Aria Air will not go into Setup mode

Bought the Air yesterday, followed the instructions as provided to initiate the device ie remove battery, wait 10 seconds then reinstall battery.  Unit went right into weighing mode without going to Setup mode.  Changed batteries, completed firmware update and still no joy.  Note to Fitbit support and awaiting response.  Luckily bought from local retailer so will be easy to return.  Bummer!

According to the Aria Air manual those aren't the setup instructions. Instead it says:

Thank you for your response.  The instructions I followed accompanied the scale and thus that was the way I proceeded.  I also followed your instructions as provided but to no avail.

Fitbit support was on no help and closed their involvement simply by saying they would continue to work on the issue.

Packed up the machine and got a refund from the retailer.

I also had the similar problem yesterday, attempted 5 times.  Scale will not setup.  Went thru all the steps.  Thought  my phone was not compatible, says it is.  So I tried on my laptop still won't go in setup mode not understanding.  I can't get past that.  I tried everything.  I am ready to call and talk with someone.  But, my son who is an IT consultant, said he would take a look at it.

Totally lost and frustrated.

Just received my fitbit aria air and it also won't go to setup mode.  Complete waste of time and money

Same - I just got mine home.  I will stick to withings smart scale.

I just set up my Air. The included instructions about removing the battery are apparently totally wrong and confusing, as are the instructions on the Fitbit site (from 2014!). I opened my fitbit app and chose set up new device. It detected the scale, further steps were clear, and everything worked. Hope that helps.

I have just switched on my Aria Air Scales for first time today.  I have synced it to the app on my phone and my weight saved with no problems.

my query is though the instructions that came with the scales said remove batteries, wait 10 seconds, flip over scales and the setup mode will appear on scales.  This didn’t happen no matter how many times I’ve tried.

I am confused as the display clearly shows other functions that I can’t get access to, i.e. Bmi, ft, cm, % etc..... Am I missing something or are these functions not accessible in the scales????

I followed the guidance. Exactly. 

When I got to the set up it said Scale is already attached to another Fitbit user. Ask them for an invite. 

This is SUPPOSED to be a new scale. I just removed it from the box. I am the only Fitbit user in the house. 

Not sure where it is attached to someone else. 

I'll have to mail mine back.
