Aria Air will not sync to Fitbit app

A number of people have had and are still having this problem. 

I have the latest Fitbit app on a Samsung S20+ running Android 12.  I have deleted and reinstalled the Fitbit app, updated the Aria Air firmware using the app from the app store, and rebooted the Aria and the phone many times.  The Aria then syncs for the first time but after that nothing.  Only rebooting the phone restarts the sync capability but then only once.

If I could return the Aria, I would but I have battled with this since July 2021 so I have passed the return option.

The only official reaction to previous discussion threads has been to close the thread as answered and to point to a help file.  That help file talks about rebooting the wifi router, but the Aria is supposed the connect by Bluetooth.  No help at all.  Closing the discussion stream is admitting defeat.

Is that the best that Fitbit can do?
