Aria Scale shows a "Sensing" message

Hi I have an Aria scale and wanted to know if anyone else has run into this issue...

 

I recently changed the batteries because it died on me. Once I turned it on, the scale now says everything is between 20-29lbs even though we all know my husband and I dont weigh that much haha...

 

My husband tells me he saw the scale randomly showing the "sensing" message a couple days before it died even though there was no weight on it.

 

Any ideas on what could be causing this?
