After trying 100 times to sync my Aria (1), I finally figured out that I could change my Xfinity router (Gateway Online) settings, like this:
*Download and open the XFi app on a phone
*Go under Network (bottom of the page, wi-fi symbol)
*Then go under Advanced Settings
*Then (under 2.4 and 5 GHz Wifi) go under manage your WiFi channel/mode
*Then under 2.4 GHz WiFi Radio, change choose 802.11 b,g,n (versus just 802.11 g,n)
*Go through the Aria setup one more time and viola!
It works!

The instructions posted were 100% correct for the older Xfinity gateways. This week we were upgraded to one of the newer ones and the b/g/n option is no longer available. Tried contacting both Fitbit support and Xfinity support. Neither team was able to assist since the Aria scale can only talk 802.11b and that is not available on the newer gateways. To get around that I wound up using a Linksys WiFi Range extender (RE4100W) that I had laying around. I joined that to our Xfinity network and then the scale was able to see the network. I went a step further and configured the range extender to use a different network name so I could tell them apart. Hope this helps others who encounter the same.
