Aria & Aria 2 - Expected lifespan

I've had my Aria for just over 3 years.   After changing the WiFi network, I'm now getting ERR.   From reading the forums, this has happened to many people  - frequently after less than 2 years.   Support tells me that a sensor is worn out.  Prior to this, I had a Tanita which lasted approximately 12 years.   It doesn't make much sense to buy  a scale every 1 - 3 years.

Is there any reason to expect the Aria 2 will last any longer than the Aria?     Thanks!

It is more likely that either the new router is not compatible or it is not set up properly. Most are backwards compatible.

Hey. thanks for the reply.   I tied switching back to the other router; same issue.   Fitbit help desk said it is the sensor, and even without wifi connectivity it should register a weight.

I've had my Aria (1st version) for five years and lately it has started to fail — gets stuck on "step off" or some other screen, lately showing ERR frequently.  Now it appears completely dead (yes, the batteries were replaced a couple of days ago.)  Is it reasonable to assume it has worn out?

@TedL Thank you for joining us in this thread and our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Aria scale is unresponsive even though you have replaced the batteries. I'd like you to try one more workaround: Take out the batteries, clean the contacts of your scale with a cotton swab and a little bit of alcohol. This will remove any dust the the contacts may accumulate. Finally, put the batteries back in (make sure they're not rechargeable and they are alkalines).

I've had my Aria for 2-1/2 to 3 years. A couple of weeks ago it just stopped displaying. The last time it synched it said the batteries were 50%. I replaced the batteries with new Energizer batteries, cleaned the contacts first, messed with the contacts a little to ensure they were tight, it came back on and would show weight but not synch. So, this morning, I followed the instructions to re-connect it. Setup came on, I went to the setup web page on my computer and followed the steps. At the end I got "Success". I went back to the Aria to weigh, and now it won't come on again.

Not sure what to do at this point.
