Aria battery drain

I put new batteries in my aria. It seemed to never properly cycle off and my battery life was about 2 weeks, dead again! Any ideas on how to get the scale back in proper form?

That’s what mine did too. It’s obviously a flaw that happens only when warranty runs out 😞

It seems to be an issues with the sensors. As they age they lose tension and feel the scale's weight as if someone has touched it and requests that you step on it. Probably would have been solved with a better zeroing option like on a manual scale. They won't help and the scale is just a giant paperweight after a year or so. I trashed mine.

@job19_25a It's great to see you in our Fitbit forums! I'm sorry to hear that your Aria scale is also experiencing battery draining. I would like you to try one more workaround, which consists in taking out the batteries, then clean the contacts or springs of the scale with a cotton swab and a little bit of alcohol in order to remove any dust that the contacts accumulate with the time. If the issue persists, let me know.

@Mllegris @thompsoe85 I understand how you feel about the experience you had with your Aria scales. I appreciate your feedback since this helps us to keep improving.

They were defective. the scale is like new.  It should have been updated and replaced -  I bought a new brand and have moved on.  I still like my blaze and am sorry they discontinued that style.

Thanks

@tmonkey I'm sorry to hear about the experience you've had with your Aria scale. I would like to follow up on your case and would like to know if you have tried any troubleshooting steps in order to fix this issue. In the meantime, I'd like you to take out the batteries and clean the contacts of the scale with a cotton swab and a little bit of alcohol. This will remove any dust that the contacts may accumulate. Finally, put the batteries back in and see if the issue gets fixed.

that happens to me too, going through batteries like crazy and sometimes I just come near my scale and not even step on it and the digital screen is asking me to step on.

@pr2017 Welcome to our Fitbit Community! In order to fix this issue, please try the workaround that I shared in my previous post. After cleaning the contacts and putting the batteries please monitor your scale and see if the batteries don't get drained fast.

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

I have tried everything already. Someone contacted me a long time ago about
the different things to try and we tried them all. Still battery drain.
We’ll never get a Fitbit scale again, especially since no one from the
company offered to redeem the situation after trying everything we could.

This has been going on for more than a year. Fit Bit keeps changing out support personnel who repeat previous 'solutions' that don't work. The original scale had design defects in the sensors. Didn't fix it. People have moved on.

I'm also experiencing the battery drain thing. I've tried all the workarounds and have basically given up. Taking the batteries out every time I use the scale isn't an option. The unit is unserviceable. Will not buy Fitbit again. Expensive toy that doesn't last.

So here is the work around somewhat kludgy but requires 30 seconds of additional investment in time each time you want to weigh in.

I take the measurement. Have to pull up on the surface at times as it keeps flashing step off after stepping off. Get the “thinking...” followed by the weight and PBF. Then once it records it via wifi 8 flip one of the batteries so it is off. Next time un - flip the battery at use time and then flip again.

Pain but still using this piece of equipment. Although about to move on...

Thanks,

Also, I'd like to know if you also tried cleaning the contacts with a cotton swab and a little bit of alcohol. This removes any dust that the contacts may accumulate.

What I noticed is the scale is stuck in "Step on" mode and doesn't shut off.

That's exactly whats happening to mine.  Cleaning everything, factory resets do nothing. Batteries are lasting less than a week.  Sucks because its an absolute godsend for weight loss apps.

The sensors seem to weaken over time to the point where the weight of the scale is activating the ‘step on’ mode. Just as if you tapped the scale to wake it up. So it never shuts off. Defective design.

Well that is frustrating! The fitbit company should send us a new scale or give our money back.  It's defective and not our fault.

Hi.. my Aria scale that is 4 years old was doing the same thing, how ever I think have solved the problem with mine. First I deleted the Aria scale from my account. Pulled the batteries on the scale and then re-added the Aria to my account again as if it was it was new following the app set up new device. It appears to have reprogramed it and is working like new again. The old version in the scale only required 2 letters for initials and now it requires 3 letters.

I hope this works for you.
