Aria can't connect to my new wifi

I recently had to change out my wifi router.  It is the exact same type as my previous router that was connected to the scale but for some reason this scale will not connect to the new router.  Oh it was a nightmare connecting the scale to the first wifi as well, but I am over it.  !!!!! I have been trying for three days.  Shame on you fitbit for putting out such subpar material.  some one needs to tell me how to fit this setup or I want my money back.  My scale is saying that it has detected the networks but my network does not appear to connect to it.  I should have bought a Withings scale. uggh.

You could try that - turn everything else off, then reboot the router and see if it works.  The problem is that when the other devices reconnect, the router will probably switch back to the "n" mode.  bgn routers will work on one or another of the modes but not all three at once.

*sighs* I will look into finding another router. Thank you so much for all of your help!

I have no idea. I know it only works with the 2.4 bans, not the 5.

After readouts that increased up to 5% for body weight and 3 kgs for weight over night I have given up on using this expensive paper weight as a means of accessing valid data.

Dumped it and bought weight watchers latest . Synced immediately, gives % bone density and water content and about1/3 the price !

I already bought a different (and much cheaper) scale. I’m done with Fitbit.

The aria has been out since at least 2013 so the aria 2 better be perfect because that was far from quick.

Hi everyone! I'm sorry to hear that your Aria scale have experienced setup issues. I'll be happy to assist you and find a solution so you can connect your scales. Please make sure that your router runs the protocol 802.11b, the bandwidth is 2.4GHz and your WiFi password is alphanumerical only. In the meantime, please let me know if you are getting any error message during the setup.

@EdmundC Thanks a lot for your constant help and contribution my friend!

See you all later guys! Smiley Happy

Your reply about "your router runs the protocol 802.11b, the bandwidth is 2.4GHz"  speaks volumes about how screwed up your software really is.

Why is it that ALL OTHER electronics everywhere else in my house don't require such specialized knowledge but YOUR garbage equipment does?  Could it be that your organization has designed really lousy software???? (hint - it has).  And by the way, most of us commenting here are not doing so out of some insanely optimistic hope that our problems will be solved (in fact, my issues were worked out, but that's NOT the point).  I comment here ONLY to dissuade others from purchasing such garbage equipment; the ONLY SURE WAY to avoid FitBit software issues.

Sorry too late. I have junked it for the latest WW scale . One third if the price, synced immediately and a user guide that is excellent and does not assume that one needs an IT. Masters degree to operate. It’s a pity that such a great idea could be screwed up by not realising that the majority of your users are using their experience with other plug and play devices on which to base their acceptance of your product. I do not have an issue with my other devices including monitoring required for glucose, blood pressure etc which one can purchase for under 100 dollars at the local pharmacy , with the emphasis on monitoring and archiving data . Thus device ranging from the woefully written instructions to the failure to anticipate variables like changes to one’ s IP provider does not delivering in those benefits for which we purchased it. Would have been simpler to buy a cheaply from Woolworths and use pencil and paper to retain records.

I have found an awesome solution to the issue.  The Weight Gurus Bluetooth Scale $54.99 on Amazon.  It requires no WIFI at all just Bluetooth on your mobile device.  Turn on your Bluetooth, open the app, weigh, and immediately there is all of your information.  If you have connected the app to your Fitbit App, Google Fit, My Fitness Pal or Under Armour apps it sends the information directly to those apps as well.  I weigh, and look at my Fitbit app and the information is on there.  I can't believe I wasted so much time trying to get this brick of a scale to work! (Fitbit aria).  Shame on Fitbit for having a scale that does not work for the majority of it customers.

Tom I am buying a different scale due to the undue stress the Aria has caused me and because of the poor technical design. Your assessment is spot on!

So, are you confirming what EdmundC is saying? That the router needs to run the 802.11b mode only and that 802.11b/g/n mode will not work? My Comcast Arris router only has an option to switch between b/g/n or g/n.

Thanks

George

Not in the least. I got it to work, don't ask me how.  The computer lingo discussed here is well above my knowledge level.  I have an ASUS router of my own and it works, that's all I know.

Oh......and Fitbit is garbage, I know that too............

The only thing I know for sure is, it is a fitbit issue and they need to improve their technology, sometiems resetting the router fixes it, sometimes it doesn't.

I love the concept of fitbit but have had to return every single item I ever bought that is a charge2, headphones and aria. I love them when they work but I suspect next time around I'll look for a more robust supplier.

I've tried over a dozen times, it will be out the window in a minute... It's always been a pain to set up when batteries die or the wifi has been changed, but this time it's beyond a joke, the router Virgin hub 3 and I working s fine, it is 802.11b and I'm on the 2g it just will not connect at the last stage.. This is the biggest waste of time and money ever. Fitbit need to pull their finger out and sort this out!
