Aria is randomly turning on

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Starting yesterday Aria will randomly flash to step on the scale, searches, tries to sync. This goes on for a minute, it turns off, and then a few minutes later it happens again. Yesterday I stepped on thinking that would make it stop. Moments later it happened again. This morning it happened about half an hour after I weighed myself. A few minutes ago it happened again. It has not been moved or bumped into at all. The batteries don't need to be changed. It's really freaking me out.

I found the best solution was from another post. That was to set something under the scale so only two pads touch the floor, bit of a hassle when you go to use, but my batteries last for three months or better now. Obviously there is some sort of sensitivity issue with all four touching the floor, and it thinks someone is trying to use, or at least something like that.?

I’ve browsed these forums and am dismayed to see that I’m not the only one. My scale also turns on randomly.

Of not to others and perhaps to the Fitbit folks who are not acknowledging that this appears to be a fairly common defect: THIS APPEARS TO BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO HOW LEVEL THE SCALE IS ON THE GROUND. We have a tile floor and I find that the scale will get in this mode when it is sitting on grout lines. If I move the scale so that it is level with all four feet in good contact with the ground, it stops power cycling. Either there is a poorly calibrated motion sensor involved or your pressure sensor is so sensitive that the slightest nearby bump sets it to believing someone wants to weigh themselves.

I’m most disappointed to see that people who own the newer model are also seeing this problem. This is a true concern and will indeed steer me away from any future Fitbit purchase.

Pressure sensor seems to be too sensitive or has worn out. I just fixed mine as batteries were lasting maybe 2 weeks.

The 2 feet closest to you when you step on the scale are what turns it on. Those need to be "adjusted".

Remove 2 Phillips under battery cover.

Pry the entire plastic bottom off of the scale (I used my fingers)

Using your hands only, gently yet firmly pull the feet straight down away from the scale ie opposite direction the feet go when you step on.

Before reassembling, put the batteries back in and squeeze the feet to see how hard it is to turn on. It should take at least 3-4 pounds of pressure to trigger each foot.

I'm not saying this won't break your scale, but it fixed mine. I'm sure this is probably only temporary relief and a couple months from now I'll have the same issue.

You are almost there.........on my unit, the two back feet ( closest to the battery) is crack causing the scale to turn on when I walk by.  I super glue and baking soda  seem to fix it.  I found this post on another fix with 3D printer: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2988535.

I am also having the same issue with my Aria scale.  I did remove my batteries and waited a week before I placed NEW batteries in the scale...but the day after, same issue began again.  My scale is over 3 years old.

Did you do the super glue or the 3D fix?

The person that kindly posted the youtube video was on the right track. I have created a more detailed video with instructions to repair the switches.

Good luck!
