Even with new batteries, the Aria keeps turning on and off until the batteries die. It will not recognize me, I'm always a guest. But, it recognizes my wife right away.

Have the same problem, Fitbit won’t help me so I will not be purchasing
another scale from them. My solution is to take out 1 of the batteries
after weigh in, inconvenient but saves me from having to buy batteries
every time I use it. Good luck!
Mine has been doing this also, Fitbit won’t help and I will not be buying another scale from them. My solution is to take out 1 battery after weigh in it is very inconvenient but I don’t have to buy batteries every day, good luck.

I have found no solution and Fitbit has no solution. Mine started having problems literally as the warranty period ran out.
I can’t afford to pay $150 again for a fancy scale.

I am having the same problem. I have resorted to taking one of the batteries out after I weigh myself. This seems like a common problem, does Fitbit have a solution yet for this?

I am afraid Fitbit does not care about your problem. Sales go well, so why worry about customers who got failing product?

@Sarahjane0405 It's great to see you in our Fitbit Community and welcome to the forums @LizL2! Thank you for troubleshooting this issue before contacting the forums. Please try this, take out the batteries and clean the contacts of your scales with a cotton swab and a little bit of alcohol. This will remove any dust that the contacts accumulate. After this, put the batteries back in and see if the issue gets fixed.
@Veradi @sogafyrfytr Thank you for your feedback and comments. The warranty period is good for 365 days starting from the date of first setup. Please check out this page for more information about the warranty policy.
@SQ6GIT Thanks for joining us in this thread! Let me go ahead and follow up on the issue that your Aria is experiencing. I would like to know if you have tried the recommended troubleshooting steps. If not, I also recommend you to take out the batteries, clean the contacts or springs of your scale with a cotton swab and little bit of alcohol. After doing this, place the set of batteries again and see if the batteries don't get drained quickly.
See you all later!

Your Aria batteries keep draining becase of the cheap plastic used inside. There are plastic connectors used to the attach the scale feet to the scale. The plastic gets old and breaks (conveniently after your warranty is over). You can’t see this problem because it is inside the scale and you can’t open it without voiding the warranty. Because of the broken feet, your scale drains the batteries and probably doesn’t record your weight accurately. The company won’t repair or replace even though they are well aware of the problem. I love the way they recommend that you call your internet provider or clean the battery connectors instead of admitting their culpability. I wish I had better news, but fitbit will not help you. Shameful way to treat loyal customers.

Yup, me too. I wished it charged like my watch, then I wouldn't have to worry as much about this issue, although lights turning in at night is rather shouting

@Khcondie I see new faces in our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Aria scale turns on by itself as well. I would like you to try a workaround that has been helpful: Take out the batteries and clean the springs or contacts of the scale with a cotton swab and some alcohol so any dust that the contacts accumulate can be removed. After this, monitor your scale for the next 48 hours and see if the issue gets fixed.
Keep me posted on the outcome!

So, I am wondering whether the moderators coming to this thread from time to time are real.
If they are real, they are either:
1. Treating us as idiots.
2. Not bothering to read the thread at all.
Or both.
Dear Moderator - I will do part of your job. The scale IS malfunctioning. And this is not to polish the connections or keep restarting it like a PC running MS Windows. Fitbit produced a scale, keeps selling this for 150 dollars and does not care about our feedback. Perhaps even done on purpose, as the malfunctioning reveals AFTER the warranty period.
So please, do us a favor:
1. READ the thread before posting the same meaningless "advice" assumed to show "interest and caring"
2. Please post when you have a REAL SOLUTION - posting about cleaning the contacts is becoming insulting.
Thank you in advance.
Your worried and already helpless (former) customer.

As a former happy fitbit customer, Thank you for your reply. It was well written. I hope the Mods pay attention to it.
The same “solution” offered over and over again isn’t an answer. The only problem is I got the same run around with an online support ticket and phone calls.
I agree when you have repeated posts on the same issue, with the same solution provided.... and all responses to the “solution” says that it doesn’t solve the problem, you’d think in the interest customer service and wanting to deliver a quality product, FitBit would step up. This has obviously not happened.

I have the same issue with the scale turning on and off. WTF. This will be my last time I am ever gonna purchase a fitbit product.

Mine kept doing this also. So I cleaned it and it started happening again a bit later. So I gave up using it for about a month. I tried it again yesterday. But now all it does is gives me an error message after thinking.

I am afraid in a few days/weeks time, a new consultant from Fitbit will
read your post and will advice to "clean the contacts", and other generic
answers without even reading the thread... 🙂
I read somewhere the reason is very well known to Fitbit but not revealed
to the public - this is poor quality plastic contacts in the scale
mechanism, perhaps produced purposely to break after the warranty period to
push you to buy another one. The intent of course is a speculation but in
the era of cheating by many companies to keep customers purchase the
products I would not be surprised.
I am just happy that I have not bought the second scale from Fitbit to m
second apartment. I let the Fitbit scale go now, I purchased ~$25 scale and
it works perfectly - apart from the fact it does not auto record my
results, but I stopped caring as I have not purchased any more Fitbit
products after my wrist band tore out too. Now I am using Polar M430 watch
which does far more than Fitbit, it helps me do my training in a meaningful
way (with an accompanying diet I lost 25 pounds in 2 months, hard 1-mile "run" became a kind of easy 7-mile jog 3x a week), and I just record the weight manually from the 25-dollar scale in Polar online tool,
although they have a product equivalent to Fitbit Aria.
It is a good learning for me = more expensive does not necessarily mean better (quality or/and support).
So far, so good - it worked for a few years for me now (with the 25 usd scale).

@IhatemyFit @Nickikole Thank you for joining us in this thread and our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Aria scale is turning on and off all of a sudden. If you haven't done so, I'd like you to take out the batteries and clean the contacts in order to remove dust that the scales may accumulate in the batteries compartment. After this, put the batteries back in. If the issue persists, let me know and I'll be happy to follow up.
