Aria provides inaccurate weight readings

My Aria has been registering a consistent decline in weight from 173 to 160 over a 2 week period then this morning shoots back up to 174.  I changed the batteries resynced the aria now it will only register me as a guest because the 2 weights are so drastically different...any suggestions?
