So I've been happily using my Aria scale for awhile, but for the past couple of weeks, although I felt like I worked really hard on my eating and fitness, my weight has seemingly hardly budged. So I checked my weight on my older electronic scale, and it showed me as being about 1 lb less than the Aria scale was showing. Ok, no big deal... But then I had my husband get on both scales to compare, and he actually weighs LESS on the Aria scale. How can it be that I weigh MORE on the Aria scale compared to a regular electronic scale, but for my husband it's the opposite?? And then, if I keep getting on the Aria, my weight will gradually inch down towards a number that's closer to what my other electronic scale says.
Obviously this is making me very suspicious about the accuracy of the Aria. Or perhaps I'm doing something wrong, or it needs to be calibrated or something? Has anyone else encountered accuracy/consistency problems like this?
Thanks in advance for any insight you can give me into this problem!

Have always had a variance in readings depending on how I stand on the scale. Out towards the edge vs toes hugging the display. This morning had a range of 303 to 310. Am going to attempt a reset, but would appreciate any guidance on where precisely to stand. The device is on tile, so the floor surface isn't a factor at least.
Calibration completed. 4lb variance after doing the 5 step plan.
Please advise.

I feel like my scale has been pretty consistent in the six months that I've owned it, but this morning when I got on it, it says I lost anywhere from 35-40 pounds overnight. My boyfriend got on it a few times and got the same crazy results. What could be causing this??

@Alind21 Welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Aria scale started to provide inaccurate weight readings to you and your boyfriend. In order to correct this issue, please restart and re-calibrate your scale by taking out the batteries for 15 seconds and put them back in. After this, weigh yourself 5 times in a row and see if your weight is more accurate. Once you've done this, have your boyfriend to follow the same workaround.
Keep me posted on the outcome!

So I had a 6 to 8 lb loss overnight. Tried the 5 times two different days. But I think I might have fixed it by changing the weight from lbs to kgs. Hopped on and the translated kgs to lbs was more in range. I did next take out the batteries for more than 15 min. Changed back to lbs. This am the scale was within a lb of the extra scale we have in the house. So that may have fixed it.

I have the same problem as Simon Fits. My Aria scale is giving wildly different readings even after trying the recommended tips.

Do you store it on a hard surface in horizontal position ? I stored it in a drawer on top of towels, what caused the problem.
Now I keep it on top of the wooden cabinet and the problem is solved.

I too have an issue with an Aria at the moment. I see a lot of issues raised in this thread but not many actual solutions. Having already tried re-calibrating my scale as instructed multiple times, making sure the scale is on a hard flat surface, making sure it is not moved etc etc.
The weight variation this morning between the highest and lowest weigh-in of several attempts was 2.7 kgs (5.9 pds) which to me seems ridiculous.
Mine is an older Aria but I do not want to spend the money to upgrade to a new Aria 2 if there is an actual working solution, or better still way to see if the scale is working properly.
I would like to see a real, public, response from FitBit.

@JuanJoFitbit , I got Aria and got exactly the same problem: My wife and I both one pound heavier than we actually are (comparing to another 3 scales). I tried to re-calibrate them (batteries out, wait for 15 seconds, batteries in, weight myself 5 times) - no changes. I still have the same (wrong) weight I measured just out the box. Is any way to actually re-calibrate Aria scales?
