Aria scale turns on by itself

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've been noticing recently that the Aria Scales are turning on on their own and asking for me to 'Step On'. I usually have the Scales under my bathroom cabinet so I can't say how long this has been happening for, but I've been replacing the batteries every 1-2 months so I'd say it's been going on for a while.

I've now had to buy rechargeable batteries because buying new sets every other month was getting ridiculous, but even then, I've had them in for two weeks and the charge is already down half way. I have friends who don't need to replace batteries for 6 months or so.

How can I fix this issue, specifically the Scales turning on by themselves? I have replaced the batteries multiple times and cleaned out the battery compartment.

I’m having similar issues... my device turns on at odd times, often in the middle of the night with very little motion.  How do I know?  The scale is tucked under our bed (hardwood floor) and it comes on in the middle of the night and lights up the entire room.

I’ve replaced the batteries a couple times and now the Aria no longer connects to my network.  When I try to reset and reconnect it fails to complete the setup routine.

I’d like to replace but afraid to spend the $$ on Aria 2 after these issues

@GeoNZ Welcome aboard in our Fitbit Community! I'm happy to assist you and find a solution for the issue that your Aria scale has been experiencing since it turns on by itself. Thanks by the way, for troubleshooting this issue before getting in touch with the Community.  Please let me know if you cleaned the contacts or just the compartment. I recommend cleaning the contacts or springs with a cotton swab and a little bit of alcohol since this cleans the contacts completely and removes dust that the springs accumulate. After this, try a set of batteries that are not rechargeable.

@heyfaulk Thanks for joining us in this thread and our Fitbit Community! Since your Aria is not connecting with your WiFi, please let me know if you've made changes to your network such as WiFi password, router or router settings. Making any of these changes may affect the connection. Also, let me know if you get any error message when your Aria tries to connect.

See you both later my friends! Smiley Happy

Hi,

I get a few different messages when the wifi fails to connect.

My Aria scale is v39 and it has been successfully connected to our wifi in the past.  Our provide recently replaced our cable modem/wifi although we have managed to change the settings on the Aria during similar changes it won't take the setting this time.

I tried it on my Android Phone 2x and the phone is unable to connect to the Aria wifi.  I switched to my laptop and had better luck this time getting the scale to make it all the way through the process.   I am using the latest version of the Window download setup

The first failed laptop attempt simply said "Wifi Err" and reset to "setup active".  The next attempt managed to get through all four steps and shows "syncing"... a few moments later it shows "No Sync" and returns to "Setup Active'.  I've attempted about 5 times now and saved the log files in case you need them to review.

Please let me know a fix or perhaps a router/wifi setting that I need to revise.

Thanks

@heyfaulk I see that you joined our Fitbit Community recently. Welcome aboard! Thank you for providing details about the error messages you get. Please make sure that your WiFi password is alphanumerical, the protocol of the router is 802.11b and the bandwidth is 2.4GHz. This info can be reviewed with your Internet service provider.

On an aside note, let me know what is the brand of your router.

Looking forward to your response my friend! Smiley Happy

Hi,

Yes, I completely cleaned as mentioned based off other people asking the same question in the past. I used normal batteries and they had the same problem. The only reason I'm using rechargeable batteries now are because it was a waste of money buying new batteries every 1-2 months.

Is there any other solution? I'm looking at them right now and every other minute it's flashing a message.

Thanks.

Sorry to message again, I went to weigh myself this morning and my scales no longer turn on. I took the batteries out and put them back in but nothing. The batteries still show there is charge left.

Have the scales just died?

@JuanJoFitbit I'v also been experiencing issues with it turning on randomly and cleaned everything including the contacts. Is there a video or documentation on troubleshooting this issue?

I'm having the same issue as well. Comes up frequently. Have to change the batteries often. Tells me to step off when I'm not standing on it. The past few times I've tried to weigh myself it says step off over and over then flashes an err message. Can you please help me. Thank you!

Hello! I have the same problem, the Aria 2 is on all the time and consumes the batteries very quickly. I have looked at what solution was proposed but nothing works. Can you put me in contact with the techs so that I can have a solution? Thanks

Frankie
