Hi ya x I can confirm that the scales are on a hard surface (kitchen tiled floor) and I weigh myself bare foot.
I have tried this morning weighing myself 5 times in a row and still the ERR is showing
I removed the batteries 10 seconds and weighted 5 times, still happening.
My ticket needs to be escalated.

I have had exactly the same issue since last Thurs 11th April 2024. Nothing seems to work.

Same issue. Happens to be right after I replaced the batteries which were running low. Would be great if someone from Fitbit would actually answer this thread. 😡
Update: I gave up on Aria scales after the third time replacing the **ahem** thing and am much happier with the cheaper Renpho scale, available on Amazon, which has more metrics and transmits info to my Fitbit account. Fitbit definitely needs to up their game with their scales or else more people like me will smarten up and use the competitor.

That's what I happened! I Changed my batteries and thought I'd be able to hop on it this morning and it started the step off err message.
No matter how many times I take the batteries out and leave it set it's still giving it to me. I haven't tried taking the batteries out about 4 hours ago and just put them back in it's still doing it. I really hate for it to wind up as more waste in a landfill

Has someone found a solution for this problem?

When ours did this a few years ago, I found some posts suggesting that it can be caused by a crack in one of the plastic clip things that hold the feet on. I was able to get a replacement 3d printed, and it still works fine after a couple of years after I replaced it. There was a link to the part's design for the printing, and a YouTube video for opening it up and replacing it. Ours is the original Aria.
At the time, I was able to get it working temporarily by putting the scales in just the right place on the floor. Our floors are a bit uneven, so I think putting bit of cardboard under one of the feet might achieve the same thing. I'd be interested to know if that works for any of you.
