I have an Aria scale which I take very good care of. It doesn't move from the location it's at unless I'm changing batteries or cleaning the surface. Lo and behold all of a sudden the scale just goes through the 'thinking...' then ' step off' loop. Every now and then It'll also show an ERR.
I contacted Fitbit CS and did everything, swap batteries, reset, swab contacts with alcohol, nothing worked. Finally they emailed me back and said that since I wasn't under warranty anymore, too bad buy another one. I have been using and gifting Fitbit for friends and family for years, but this response was ridiculous for the brand.
It's clear that there is a hardware problem on Fitbit's side, since the problem persists with many, many, units if you just look at the forums, but Fitbit wont take any accountability. It's ridiculous that something so expensive would just break and there would be no proper response and replacement. Really disappointed.
I just bought a Sense for a friend before this happened but I'm tempted to tell them to return it because of the awful experience I've had.

Update:
from fitbit:
"The situation with your Aria is not usual but can happen due to factors that are beyond human control, materials that these products are made of also reaches its limitation."
So fitbit is clearly indicating that these scales will break as they will 'reach a limitation' perhaps they should tell buyers that each scale will break after warranty ends. The fact that they wont own up to this or even fix the design is bewildering.
Also if they bother to look at these forums, this is one of the most common problems with this scale.

Sorry to hear of your problems, @KingLychee! Unfortunately, electronic devices do sometimes fail, and the failure can be inside or outside of the warranty period.

This isn't the case of regular wear and tear, it's a common defect that has been reported on this forum and it relates to defective parts in the scale. It's like selling a car with a unknown chance of breaking down after 2 years because of a known and repeated defect. You wouldn't do that.
