Aria syncing to Guest only

So admittedly I hadn't used my first gen Aria for a while (> 6 months).  I started using it again recently, and it would only sync to the "Guest" user in my account.  I manually changed the designation from Guest to my initials in my account on the Aria website, thinking that Fitbit/Aria would recognize me again, but that did not help.

 

Then I went through the posts on this site: remove the batteries, put Aria in setup mode, weigh yourself 5 times in a row, etc.  But, all that was happening was the weight (and not body fat %) was transferred to the "guest" designation on my account.  

 

I finally fixed the problem by deleting and reconnecting the Aria scale from my fitbit account.  After deletion of the scale from my account, I followed the directions here (www.fitbit.com/scale/setup), put the scale in setup mode (it took a very firm tap on the scale to get into setup mode), connected to the Aria's wifi, then reconnected back to home wifi.  

 

Voila, Aria is now measuring my weight and body fat %, and correctly syncing to my credentials and not to guest.

 

I thought this might be helpful to others who are struggling with similar issues.

When someone's initials other than yours pop up you can tap hard on the lower right corner until yours pop up.  🙂

This doesn't appear to work for me. I feel like I have tried everything. Is there a step I am missing? Hitting the bottom right corner, tapping the bottom right corner, doing it once, doing it multiple times while GUEST is scrolling across, nothing works. It worked so well for so long. Like a lot of people in here, it was after not using it awhile and gaining a little weight that I started showing up as GUEST. I have switched wifi, reset using the pinhole etc. I even tried changing my initials all not working for me.
