Aria won't read body fat

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

It's taking about 5 attempts for Aria to read body fat...

I've tried re calibrating, it's on an even tiled floor and I step on it in bare feet.

Also I've noticed the Aria weights me up to 5 lbs heavier than my normal electric scales... this wasn't always the case.

Help please!

@Daly.mia It's great to see you in our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Aria scale is not tracking your body fat percentage and your weight accurately. Thank you for covering the troubleshooting details before getting in touch with the forums.

I would like to know if you have also restarted your scale. If you haven't done so, please take out the batteries for 15 seconds and put them back in. Once you've done this, re-calibrate your scale one more time and let me know if the issues get corrected.

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

I just changed the batteries, the scale hasn’t read bodyfat in a very long time.

@willdavis4 Thank you for joining us in this thread! Let me go ahead and find a solution for the body fat issue that your Aria scale is experiencing. Thank you by the way, for trying the restart before contacting the forums.

Please make sure that you are stepping on your Aria barefoot and your scale is placed on a flat surface. If these details are already covered, re-calibrate your scale by weighing yourself 5 times in a row and see if your body fat percentage is measured.

Let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

My scale will not read body fat either even after resetting it, calibrating it, new batteries, etc. it also always show “guest” every weighin. I then have to modify it in the app. What else can I do?

I have been experiencing the same issues for several months. It first manifested as no body fat reading and has become progressively worse. I have done all of the above: restarted, replaced batteries, and recalibrated. My scale is on a flat tile floor and I step on with bare feet. Today, each time i stepped on the scale the weight reading increased. What else can I do to try to reset my scale and get all the features working?

@Ifd1120 @BarbaraY Welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Aria scales are not providing body fat readings, even though you guys have troubleshooted this issue properly. I would like you guys to try one more workaround: go to your profile settings and change your gender to the opposite gender, save the changes and weigh yourselves until your scales sync. After this, go to your profile settings again and change the gender back to the correct one and weigh yourselves again until the weigh ins sync and see if your body fat appears properly and accurately.

I'll be around if the issue persists! Smiley Happy

Hi, the scale still isn’t registering bodyfat. I changed the batteries and now it says the battery is low. Something isn’t right.

Wow Juanjo! I think you may have come up with a solution, at least I'm now
getting readings. Those bf measurements, though, are about half of the
numbers before the problem started.

I will check with my other registered users when they have time to
recalibrate.

At least I have measurements to compare over time now, no matter how
inaccurate they may be.

Thank you for the help.

Just wanted to update this thread. Although my Aria did register a body fat measurement for a short time after changing gender and changing it back on the app, it quit within a couple of weeks. It still weighs and records the weight on the app, so I've given up on any other functions.

I just got off Fitbit Chat Support as well as phone support and they told me I need to buy a new FitBit scale that my Aria is defective/damaged. The scale is less than 3 years old. They could only offer me expedited shipping. I am not pleased with this offer. I spent around $130 when I bought the scale and now there is nothing to do but buy another one with no compensation?

I have the same issue, have recalibrated, reset, tracked my weight manually in the app to try to get it to sync, no luck on any of it.   Am now researching non-Fitbit scales as it's clear this one will not do what it says.   Very expensive for something that doesn't work properly.  Perhaps Fitbit should stop coming out with new trackers and focus on getting their existing products to work correctly.

Oh mine totally gave up in the end, wouldn't save weights to my phone, was so up and down. It was past warranty so I didn't get a replacement from them and there's no way I would pay that much money for something so unreliable again. I picked up one in Argos that reads body fat and gives me my BMI etc. Hope that helps

My scale still will not sync body fat, I have:

-reset

-weighed 5x in a row

-changed gender (twice)

kindly advise I’ve been having issues with this problem for a year.

I gave up on the body fat function on mine. After not using the scale for
months, I tried it again and it briefly worked for probably three weeks,
then quit working again. The weight function still works correctly but no
body fat reading.

Mine, too. I just ignore it. I've tried tapping and stepping on and off in
response. Nothing. I give up.
