Changed the batteries and now will not work! Contacted support and they said oh sorry we are working to develop more durable products and oh warranty has expired so about that.

has anyone been able to resolve or do the scales literally die after 4 years.

I can  only suggest that you remove the batteries for 15 minutes and try again. If that doesn't work your scale may indeed be dead.

Yes, electronic scales can die after 4 years. About the only positive news I can give you is the only scale Fitbit sells now (Aria Air) is only $49.95, shipping is free and it can sync via Bluetooth.

Same exact thing happened to me.  Scale was working fine, then batteries were changed and now its basically a brick.
