Connectivity difficulties between Aria and Comcast/Xfinity routers

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi everyone! It has come to our attention that some users are experiencing issues with syncing/setting up Aria scales with Comcast/Xfinity routers and we are currently reviewing.

There is a workaround that has helped most users. For this, follow the instructions below:

  • Log into comcast/xfinity account
  • Once logged in,  visit https://internet.xfinity.com/more
  • Edit wifi settings under "Additional Settings"
  • Click on 2.4 frequency edit button.
  • Select g/n, hit save.
  • When the screen refreshes, click edit again, select b/g/n and hit save.
  • Stand on scale
  • Continue with the regular setup process

Thank you all for your patience. Any update available, I'll make sure to share it in this thread.

There does not seem to be a fix! I sold my Aria and bought a RENPHO off Amazon for like $30 I am way happier with the RENPHO

Fair enough, but yes as you said you should not need to do any of that, and I feel you should not need the extra knowledge or equipment that it requires. I love my fitbit tracker, I gave up on the scale; and don’t give it much thought. This thread shows in my email. It’s a plug and play world, aint nobody got time for all that extra noodling.

I’ve still using my Fitbit tracker but only until I get my Apple Watch. I dumped the most expensive paperweight ever and got a Qardio scale. It’s a lil pricey but zero regrets! Also, it is TOTALLY consistent, which my Aria never was. It also synchs with MyFitnessPal which will then synch with your Fitbit tracking app. A shame because I LOVE Fitbit app but the products are garbage. Aria 2 will have similar issues very soon. STAY FAR AWAY!! Crazy they ignore us because if you bought an Aria, chances are you’ve bought multiple Fitbit products. I’ve had 5 different trackers from them and the scale and NO MORE FROM ME based on how they handled the aria issue. An apology and a reduced price aria / offer probably would have kept me in the beginning of this debacle that started over a year ago for me!

Still having trouble as well. Fitbit customer service is not able to assist and are saying it’s because I have service with Comcast and they made an incompatible upgrade. Totally frustrated as well. I will never buy another expensive worthless scale from them again. Total waste of money and time

I've tried these steps and it's still not connecting - it looks like this is an older post, has a new solution been found?

My 2.4 network is set to the 802.11 b,g,n with WPA2 security.

This did not work for me. I cannot get the scale to read beyond the "Setup Active" message. Been at it for an hour. So frustrating

A recent update by Comcast, and now you can't even change the b/g/n option anymore.

So, I bought an inexpensive wireless router (less than $20 on Amazon) on set it up in WISP mode.  It uses WiFi to connect to my Comcast modem, and exposes a whole new Wifi network.  I then connected the Aria scale to the new WiFi network, and all works perfectly.  The router I bought was WAVLINK 300Mbps Wi-Fi Router.  It was fairly simple to set up the new router (you can also connect it directly to the Comcast modem with a provided network cable, instead of making a WiFi connection, but the way I set it up, you just plug into an outlet somewhere, connect to it with your phone, and tell it to use WISP mode.  It lets you select a Wifi network and enter a password, then it does its magic.  Of course, after it finishes, the new network is not secured, so you need to connect to the new router again and configure a password for the new WiFi network.)  The SSID of the new WiFi network will be something like WAVLINK_1234 (no spaces, so it works with the Aria scale.)

So, FWIW, a $20 solution to get a $100 scale working.

Good for you, @joeamato59 !  Thanks for putting your energies into a creative, affordable, simple solution (and sharing it with this thread) rather than complaining, blaming and vilifying Comcast and Fitbit because a 10-year-old piece of hardware is outdated.  My solution was similar, except I used an old Linksys router that was in the spare parts box in my garage.  Works perfectly and I didn't spend a cent.  Heaven knows, there's enough electronic waste in the landfills.  Reuse, re-purpose I say!

It’s not the money, it’s the time. Most of us are not going to take all that time to make a solution for a problem that should not have happened. It would be interesting to see how long it takes for the aria 2 to become obsolete.

I called in for support today and spoke to Kevin, he forwarded me a copy of this post but it did not work.

I have been on the phone support with this issue before and it still does not work, something is wrong and I have tried the work around of cleaning the contacts and my scale still is unusable.  Please let me know if there are any other ways before I have to go out and buy another product that is not FitBit.

I have used this workaround many times, always successful.  However, Comcast has now disabled the option for the user to change the mode from b/g/n to g/n then back to b/g/n.  I confirmed this with Tier 2 support from Xfinity 12/15/18.  Now, you will have to call an Xfinity rep to do this for you.  I don't know if this is an Xfinity wide restriction or a regional one.  FYI I am in the Philadelphia market

Hello. Did this work long term? Can I get your assistance? I bought another router, but I'm not having any success. Thinking i should have spent money on a scale now.

I just bought a different brand scale because technical support could not help. I will not buy FitBit product again.

That’s exactly what I did. Bought a different scale, and swore off Fitbit products in the future. Was going to buy my mom the Fitbit scale for Mother’s Day, but got her a different one instead.
