Hi everyone! It has come to our attention that some users are experiencing issues with syncing/setting up Aria scales with Comcast/Xfinity routers and we are currently reviewing.
There is a workaround that has helped most users. For this, follow the instructions below:
Thank you all for your patience. Any update available, I'll make sure to share it in this thread.

Smart move. There is no way to make this scale work if you have Comcast and Fitbit says it's not their problem

Hi. Yes, the alternate router is working just fine. Hasn't skipped a beat. Below is exactly what I bought ($18.99 Amazon Prime)
It was fairly easy to set up. I used my iPhone to connect to the new router, and configure the new router to connect wirelessly to my Comcast modem. (This new router creates a whole new subnet 192.168.10.x) I then connected my phone to the new router just to verify it had internet access. Then I went thru the normal scale setup process to attach the scale to the new router.
I agree with many on this board; FitBit could certainly have done a better job with this scale. They should consider giving credit towards a new product for those users trying to use it with a Comcast router. Users shouldn't have to be savvy enough to set up a separate router to support the scale. But, in my opinion, Comcast is equally guilty; their router doesn't support WiFi "b" mode properly.
Here is the exact description of the router on Amazon:
Wavlink N300 Wi-Fi Router with 5DBI High Gain 4X External Antennas,Smart Router 2.4GHz Band Singnal Extender with IEEE 802.11b/g/n

I wish I had found this thread sooner! When I moved, I spent a lot of time fighting trying to get the scale connected and chatting with Fitbit support pointlessly walking through the same set up instructions that would have never worked anyway!
For those Fitbit users that have switched to a different smart scale, any recommendations?

I thought about it. I tried. Bought a Renpho instead.

Please don’t try to make us users fix the problem. It’s Fitbit’s problem. I haven’t been able to connect Scale to my WiFi in a over a year! I’ve been waiting for Fitbit to fix their firmware issue. In the I continue to manually record my weight. I am not getting a new scale when there’s nothing wrong this Aria. It works perfectly fine. So it’s time for you guys (Fitbit) to take some positive action and satisfy your community members.

Just throw away this Aria scale. I have spent hours trying to sync with XFi and spent another hour with tech "support" and got exactly nowhere. It's ridiculous that a product cannot sync with a WiFi service used by literally millions of people. Have you ever heard of "software updates" for your crappy Fitbit products? Ditching this scale and the watch and going to Apple products.

Yes! Me too. It says WiFi err and I knew it was right. Just always says setup active

Yes!!! I did this and it works! Here's my version of the things:
After trying 100 times to sync my Aria (1), I finally figured out that I could change my Xfinity router (Gateway Online) settings, like this:
*Download and open the XFi app on a phone
*Go under Network (bottom of the page, wi-fi symbol)
*Then go under Advanced Settings
*Then (under 2.4 and 5 GHz Wifi) go under manage your WiFi channel/mode
*Then under 2.4 GHz WiFi Radio, change choose 802.11 b,g,n (versus just 802.11 g,n)
*Go through the Aria setup one more time and viola!
It works!

But doesn’t this slow down your internet by a lot? I don’t know much about it, but seems changing it to the 2.4 would slow everything way down. 🤷🏼:female_sign:

A B device should work with a G router. Fixes like this don't address the problem.

Looks like this issue came up for everyone, including myself, in March 2018. It is now June 2019 and the problem still exists. Neither Fitbit nor Comcast is responding anymore and the Aria has not been upgraded. I think it is too much to expect Comcast to change anything in their end for a relatively few digital scale owners. Seems like Aria needs a firmware upgrade. Since this has been over a year, I think we all have our answer and the Aria is going the way of the iPhone 3

I ended up switching scales. I bought the Renpho smart scale from Amazon for $27. It was incredibly easy to set up (all bluetooth) and gives a lot more data than FitBit-- though I don't know how accurate it is. It also syncs easily with FitBit and in the app you wouldn't know you switched scales
Much cheaper, works just as good if not better, and if the company tanks or abandons updating this product, you're out significantly less money than with the Aria

There is not fix for this. The old fb scale uses Wi-Fi 1, like really old. Most Wi-Fi 5 routers dropped support for Wi-Fi 1 because it drops your network speed from 1800mbps to 11mbps. No that is not a typo, 1800 to 11. Btw, the newest Wi-Fi is Wi-Fi 6.

I have a new router from Comcast and have the settings on the 2.4 as g,n and my WiFi still doesn’t show up. I’m real disappointed because I have had this scale since it first came out and am so frustrated that I don’t want this scale anymore.
