Connectivity difficulties between Aria and Comcast/Xfinity routers

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi everyone! It has come to our attention that some users are experiencing issues with syncing/setting up Aria scales with Comcast/Xfinity routers and we are currently reviewing.

There is a workaround that has helped most users. For this, follow the instructions below:

  • Log into comcast/xfinity account
  • Once logged in,  visit https://internet.xfinity.com/more
  • Edit wifi settings under "Additional Settings"
  • Click on 2.4 frequency edit button.
  • Select g/n, hit save.
  • When the screen refreshes, click edit again, select b/g/n and hit save.
  • Stand on scale
  • Continue with the regular setup process

Thank you all for your patience. Any update available, I'll make sure to share it in this thread.

The new Comcast routers don’t transmit the B band otherwise I would have been able to connect my scale to WiFi. I’m real disappointed with both Comcast and Fitbit for not fixing this and I just switched to Comcast less than a month ago.

Yea I just ended up buying another scale. Digital, basic

Yeah same here. I see the WiFi 2.4 but the scale can't connect. I can believe doesn’t have a patch for it

Look gang, I started this thread I don't know how long ago. The only work around that I've found is to set up a parallel 802.11b wireless network. You need to find an old router that supports the 802.11b protocol and plug it into the second port on that wonderful Xfinity router. I'm using an old Linksys router I had that was hanging out in the garage. The only thing on this wireless network will be the Aria scale (piece of crap that it is). This has been working for me for a long time without any hiccups. Fitbit has totally ignored this issue and written off these customers. I personally will never purchase another Fitbit product.

This whole thread is wrong, including the original post.  B devices can work with G routers.  Except Comcast's router.  It's a more subtle problem that no one smarter seems to be working on.

Well if someone can verity this so be it. As for me, Fitbit has been silent on this issue, so forgive me if I'm just a little skeptical.

Thanks @Timberwolf620 for posting this solution -- again. This is also the only thing that worked for me.  I've been following this thread for at least a year, and have posted this solution several times myself.   Like you, my Aria  has worked flawlessly since I set it up this way more than a year ago.

You can plug in a newer router too, as long as it has G.  I've done it with a linksys and it worked fine.

Also, maybe you can explain to the rest of us why Xfinity routers have the only G protocol that doesn't support the Aria scale.

It's some other physical problem besides whether or not the router has B.  Maybe a tech guy that troubleshoots wifi can figure it out.

Well, sounds to me like it's still a Fitbit/Aria problem and they've done nothing to resolve it.

Well bully for you for being the IT person who can follow and install the solution you provided a long time ago.

Amazon has the Renpho scale on sale today for $20. Fitbit has not intention to fix the issue with the Bluetooth problem on the Aria. I am abandoning it as well. Do not waste your money on this scale the Bluetooth is crappy

My new xfinity router does not have the 802.11 b,g,n setting choice.  Fitbit tech can you please make the necessary change to the software?  I was able to connect all my old devices to my new router except the Aria scale.

Thank you for the suggestion, also got the RENPHO scale, easier than troubleshoot wifi configurations.

You pay for the nice xfinity router precisely so you don't have to know what band or frequency it's using.

I guess the fitbit one will be a offline scale from now on, maybe for the guest bedroom. And will never buy fitbit again.

I'm not able to see how to fix this. It is giving me "access denied" when I click on the page.
