Will these scales work for a Fitbit charge 3?

@NightOwl1985  Of course!  It doesn't matter what type of tracker you have.  Your tracker is a device on your account; your scale is a device on your account.

@NightOwl1985 Thank you for participating in our Fitbit Community! Thank you also for your interest in the Aria 2. Regarding your inquiry, no one could have said it better than my friend @LZeeW. The Aria 2 can definitely be set up on the account that is set up your Charge 3.

Since the scales really have nothing to do with the trackers, it doesn't matter which tracker you use, the scale will work with it.

Can someone explain why when I try to add my Aria 2, I get a full page message tjat says "There's a Fitbit Charge 3 connected to your account already" and the only available button says "Switch to Aria 2". I pressed the button and now my scale is set up but my wrist band is disconnected. When I try to set up the Charge 3 again, it refuses to pair it until all other Bluetooth devices are disconnected. Why is this so difficult?

@Jennymarie4803  You are the second user I know of that has experienced this problem.  Another user had the same problem with her Versa and her Aria 2.  I recommended contacting Support, but it seems that she was able to fix it on her own with a different combination of setting up/adding the devices.  It sounds like you have tried that.  I recommend contacting Support.

@JuanJoFitbit  Do you have another suggestion?

@Jennymarie4803 Thank you for joining us in this thread and our Fitbit Community! I would like to follow up on this issue and would like to know if the issue persists, or if your Aria 2 could be set up on the Dashboard in which is set up your Charge 3 as well.

As my friend @LZeeW mentioned, I also assume that you are a joining the scale as second user aren't you? If you are the primary user, please make sure that you are following the setup process as described in this help article.

I cannot add my Aria 2 to my account.

I already have a Fitbit Charge 3 on my account.

If I go to the app on my phone and choose setup a device, I choose Aria 2 scale, the app then says "Switching ? There's a Fitbit Charge 3 connected to your account already. "

The only option you have is "Switch to Aria 2" If you do this it dumps my Charge 3 from the App !!!

Its as though the app thinks the Aria 2 is another fitness tracker.

I am using the most up to date version of the App ( 17 Dec 18 ) on my One Plus 6 phone.

I have followed the instructions here https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1873/?l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1#A2_ExistingAccount to add my scale to my existing account.

Please help.

@Gandalf999, this has been a problem with the Fitbit app not allowing multiple devices if it has a smartwatch on the account.  If you add the Aria 2 by replacing the Charge 3, does it then allow you to add the Charge 3 back onto the app?

Best Answer

Yes Larry, I tried that earlier and it worked.

Just a pain because the Charge 3 never syncs up first go, it takes several attempts, so if something goes pear shaped with the Aria 2 I have to go through the the whole mess again.

@USAF-Larry thanks for your assistance here you are correct!

@Gandalf999 I'm glad you could set up, and understand this would be confusing and an ordeal. Our team is aware that customers with Charge 3 on Android may have difficulty pairing Aria 2. We are investigating a fix. Thank you for your report!

Android Pixel 2 phone with the same forced switching problem between Charge 3 and new Aria 2 scales.

Any updates on a fix?

@LowerBP I've marked the thread as unsolved. Hopefully we'll get an update from fitbit soon.

I'm having the same pairing issue.

I resolved it via:

1) Turning off mobile bluetooth

2) Going out of range of the Aria 2's bluetooth (into a room on the other side of the residence)

3) Turning on bluetooth and repeating the pairing with the charge 3 like it is a new device

Worked fine, both Aria 2 and Charge 3 synchronize. Some delays on Charge 3 but I understand that's an Android issue. Overall very happy with the quality of the data I'm getting, already.

A few hours ago I got my brand new Charge 3 and Aria 2 and have never installed the Fitbit app before on my Samsung S7.

I first installed the app and connected the Charge 3 without any problems. I then proceeded to add the Aria 2, but was told by the Fitbit app that this would remove the Charge 3 which I agreed to do. After the Aria 2 was successfully synced and the weight ins were registered in the app I then tried to re-add the Charge 3 which did not work and I found this thread.

After reading that others had the same problems I carefully took notes of each step I did until it was working, they are all listed below:

1) First time: Add Charge 3: OK

2) First time: Add Aria 2: Had to remove Charge 3, but Aria 2 is synced to Fitbit app (also setup WiFi)

3) Re-adding Charge 3: Not working, can't find Charge 3 (I was not told that this would remove my Aria 2, as I were told that adding Aria 2 would remove my Charge 3)

4) Turning Bluetooth off and then on again as adviced by app, still not finding Charge 3

5) Removing batteries from Aria 2, still not finding Charge 3

6) Turning Bluetooth off and the on again for the second time, still not finding Charge 3

7) Waiting 25 minutes, suddenly the app finds Charge 3 and I could add it. I both have the Charge 3 and Aria 2 listed under my devices.

😎 Current state: The Fitbit app is retrieving data from Charge 3, Aria 2 is listed under my devices (but batteries are disconnected)

9) Connected the batteries back to Aria 2, went on the scale which recognized my profile (I initially changed the profile picture, and that showed up after the weigh in) and synchronized the weight which now is available in my Fitbit App

So I get both data from Charge 3 and Aria 2 now. I'm not sure whether the data from Aria 2 is over WiFi or to the phone though, the Fitbit App on my phone shows a Charge picture (plus battery status) in the top right of the app.

For me it seems that I just had to try a few times before it was working.

It syncs over WiFi, but it shouldn't have made any difference of whether or not you had the Charge 3.

Two weeks later and I honestly have to say this is the worst experience I've ever had with any product or brand, and at this price point I think it's shocking that Fitbit is still in business. Weekly sync issues, passwords getting reset at random and very unstable sync make the products utterly useless.

I've wasted 10+ hours trying to get this to work and been frustrated several times each week since I made the mistake of buying anything from Fitbit.

Today the Fitbit Charge 3 have tried syncing for 5 hours and deleted my workout. There is also bugs in the Android app blocking the possibility to register this workout manually, I actually started laughing when I ran into that issue because it is almost as someone is trying their best to sabotage the app.

@larsole I'm sorry about the experience you've had with your Fitbit products. However, I would like to follow up on this issue and provide a solution. Is your Fitbit app displaying any error message when setting up your Aria 2 with your Charge 3 account?

Looking forward to your response! Smiley Happy
