How do I get my Aria out of "SETUP ACTIVE" mode?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello! After spending 5 hours on this tonight including over an hour with a fitbit customer service rep, I'm done with trying to sync this scale.  I've had to go through this so many times over the years and it's now a huge waste of my time.  I've decided to not even try to sync this scale anymore.  I just want to use it as a scale without syncing since that won't work. Well, heck!!  I can't even do this now because I can't get the scale out of SETUP ACTIVE mode!! It keeps blinking and blinking and it's running down my batteries.  How do I get this expensive thing to just work like a normal scale? Right now I have to take the batteries out then put them back in when I want to use the dang thing.  I honestly think I will call fitbit and see if I can get my money back on this.  I'm beyond frustrated with this product and I'm a huge fitbit fan.  If anyone has any idea, please help.  Thank you! Also, are there problems like this with the Aria 2? I've just had problem after problem with the original Aria. Thank you so much for your help!  🙂

This Aria 1 setup process is a joke.

hey should replace anyones Aria 1 with a 2 and send an apology note along with it for selling such a piece of SH!

after adding another router closer to the bathroom I thought I'd try pairing the Aria scale back up to the network. What a waste of a few hours this has been. Now trying to get it OUT of setup active mode. What a stupid piece of tech.

Like dozens of others on this thread I can not get my scale to operate independently.  I have tried all the fixes to include removing the scale from my app, still reads setup active.  This is a ridiculous issue that Fitbit should fix immediately.  My Fitbit wristband also became inoperable.  There is zero chance I will buy another Fitbit product when customer service and tech suggestions all fail.  This scale appears to be a lost cause.  I simply want it to operate as a scale only.  It should not be this difficult to achieve.

I hear ya! Some how, at some point my scale got out of set up and is like a normal scale .  While that at least allows me to use it. I'm really sad it won't connect.! I can't believe Fitbit hasn't helped us out. Lots of people have this problem. The scale wasn't cheap.. Really sucks!

I'd given up but I finally stumbled on the way to make it work which somebody outlined earlier (elsewhere?) The key is that your router name can't have any spaces in the name, letters and numbers only. Same with the password if there is one. Ideally, because the security settings are so low, make it the guest network on your router.

Omg. Thank you for finally posting a solution that worked for me! I've recently changed to a Google wifi mesh network and have not been able to get my Aria scales connected.

Based on your suggestion, I set up a guest wifi within my Google Wifi app. Then I connected my laptop to the guest wifi network and went through the whole set up process again and it worked! And it only took 2 hours *sigh*

2 hours... You did well! We wasted nearly a day! But yes, something that should "just work".. why they didn't implement WPS push button sync who knows. (Jane is my better half)

Hello

i have the same problem for years, just tried to get it going again and it’s stuck in the ‘set up active’ loop AGAIN. These scales have never worked properly. Please help..,

Thanks!

I think a litre of lighter fluid and a match is the best solution. But if you have a spare router lying around, set it up with a name like "stupid" (that's the SSID that you can see from your phone when browsing for a WiFi network). Make sure it is on the 2.4GHz band as these scales are "old tech". Then if you create a userid password, make sure that it's really simple, nothing clever. Try setting up the credentials as "dumbuser" and "idiotpass"...no spaces, no numbers, no characters, keep everything within the "a-z" range...don't even risk capital letters...it's pretty stupid. Now...you can plug the WAN (or Internet) port of this stupid router into your normal home network.

It's so simple!

I made the mistake of trying to connect my Aria to my Wifi again, after months of it not syncing. I have tried everything on this feed and the stupid scale is just stuck in "Setup Active" mode. Can someone from Fitbit PLEASE help with this? I don't even want it connected to Wifi anymore. I just want to be able to use my scale.

Does this work though if I can't even get my Aria to sync to a WiFi? How will it know to stop looking?

I stupidly did what was suggested and trashed it from my fitting dashboard, and now I can't reinstall it. The fitbit setup insists its not powered on. The last time I used the scale it got stuck on "sensing - step on" until the batteries died. Now it was stuck on setup active, and now it won't reinstall. That's one more fitbit product straight to the trash heap for me 😞

I didn't have to do anything other than,.while being near my outer, remove ALL four batteries at once.and then replace them with new batteries.  Note that when I replaced each battery one at a time, I got stuck with that neverending "Setup Active" message.  Good luck.

Solution that worked for me - go to Fitbit.com/scale/setup and manually set it up via the scales own Wi-Fi opposed to using the app. Worked a treat and now I can use it properly.

  • I am having the exact same issue and this my 4th  set of batteries because the continuous set up cycle drains them in a few days. I weigh. It connects and synch s but then starts the step off routine and keeps trying to set up over.    Can’t afford to keep replacing them and can’t weigh without them. And my warranty just ran out. And now I read all these other people with same issue.

Thanks for asking this. They’re products and support are trash. I spend more time trying to setup their products versus actually using them for my daily fitness needs. I’ve tried a few of the recommended tips in this thread but my expensive brick just eats batteries with no ROI. Anyone need a paperweight?

I gave up and bought a renpho scale. Inexpensive, hooks up to Fitbit, and
gives way more info. I mean way more! Sucutaneous fat, viceral fat,
skeletal weight, muscle weight, etc. Set up was so easy! Just be sure to
have three app open when you weigh. I'm very happy!

I am having the same issue.  I am hoping someone has an answer.  My husband want to throw it out and just get a regular scale because we have to take the batteries out and but them back in when we want to use it.  Now I am stuck in set up active mode.  So frustrated.  Haven't had it sync in 5 years.

Tapping it does not work for me.

You need to consider the developers of this product weren't all that smart
about considering future technology and constraining consumers as they
have. A sure fire way to make it work is to use an old wifi router (you can
plug this into your newer router). You then need to set the router to some
really basic security settings just short of opening it up for your
neighbours. The name of this router must be set to something really basic.
A-z letters and numbers only. No spaces, use lowercase only. If you have
any tech skills I'd recommend locking that router down to only allow the
scales to connect to it as the security settings are just too weak.
