How do I get my Aria out of "SETUP ACTIVE" mode?

Hello! After spending 5 hours on this tonight including over an hour with a fitbit customer service rep, I'm done with trying to sync this scale.  I've had to go through this so many times over the years and it's now a huge waste of my time.  I've decided to not even try to sync this scale anymore.  I just want to use it as a scale without syncing since that won't work. Well, heck!!  I can't even do this now because I can't get the scale out of SETUP ACTIVE mode!! It keeps blinking and blinking and it's running down my batteries.  How do I get this expensive thing to just work like a normal scale? Right now I have to take the batteries out then put them back in when I want to use the dang thing.  I honestly think I will call fitbit and see if I can get my money back on this.  I'm beyond frustrated with this product and I'm a huge fitbit fan.  If anyone has any idea, please help.  Thank you! Also, are there problems like this with the Aria 2? I've just had problem after problem with the original Aria. Thank you so much for your help!  🙂

My Aria can't sync with Fitbit app anymore, last time she synced was February. Very frustrating. Apperantly even then it didn't recognize my %fat or anything else..

Well guys I just spent 1.5hr trying to set up my Aria (1) and finally got it. I was on my last try as problems like this aren't worth the stress of how ever much I paid for the scale years ago. I recently upgraded to Telus Fiber so I have the modem that auto switches from 5g to 2.4g plus is much newer tech than what was around back when the Aria came out. I was just going to chalk it up to the scale not being compatible to my wifi network and replace the scale with a new one.

  • I deleted my Aria off my Fitbit profile following the steps provided on this thread
  • switched to the 2.4g option on my Linksys extender
  • used the Fitbit connection app from my MacBook pro
  • failed to connect multiple times but on the second last try instead of the WiFi ERR the scale showed 'No SYNC" or something similar
  • tried it again - the app on my MacBook showed "Opps something went wrong" but the Aria was still going through the connection sequence
  • to my shock and amazement it the Aria connected

I've had this problem with trying to connect other tech like my Traeger (talk about frustrating) I do absolutely nothing different and it magically connects. Give it a few more attempts guys then just toss it, life is short, don't let something as trivial as connecting a smart scale ruin one of the limited days you have on this earth. Think of the satisfaction you will get smashing this f*#king thing into a million pieces 🙂

YMMV, but after replacing the batteries in my Aria this morning I got stuck in "SETUP ACTIVE" mode. I found this thread and was ready to give up - but I took out the batteries and put them back in, and it worked.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I solved this for me! 😀Hopefully this is useful to someone...

I think my connection changed when I moved house or when I upgraded Internet and somehow the device stopped talking to my account and that's why I kept getting stuck in the SETUP ACTIVE mode.

By whatever means, you’re looking to do the following:

1. Remove the existing Aria device from your Fitbit account,

2. then installing a new connection between the scales and the account. I think it's stuck in Setup Active mode because of the old credentials.

* Log into your Fitbit.com account.

* Go to the cogwheel in the top right corner

* Choose 'Aria Scale'

* On this page notice 'Measurements' or 'People' as a toggle menu in the body of the page (mine are green buttons).

* Select People

* Delete all the people under the scale by clicking the trashcan to the right of the name/s.

Now there is no account associated with the scale.

You can stop at this point if you want to just use the scales manually without them transmitting info to the Fitbit account. If this is what you want to do, just remove a battery from the scales, wait ten seconds and turn it back on. You should now be able to just use the scales manually as a ‘guest’.

If you want the scales to update data by wifi to the Fitbit account, now go to www.fitbit.com/scale/setup

Now, take note, this part of the setup fix was confusing for me for two reasons, you can do it on either your laptop or phone but not both and, there are TWO wifi setups involved. I was confused because I didn’t realise I was meant to connect to the Aria’s WIFI and then the home wifi as well. I assumed it was one or the other. Also, I had started the process on my laptop, but then all the icons were of mobiles, so at the point of connecting to the Aria wifi, I did it on my mobile as the picture suggested, but as I was on a laptop, I should have continued on the laptop. Obviously its wasn’t going to work if I was splitting the process between machines! Duh. Anyway, I've just included that confusion here because you too, might be conflating wifis and confusing devices!

bla.

So here’s what I did to work:

After you’ve followed the instructions above to remove the existing connection/account in your Fitbit account, take a battery out of the scales, wait ten seconds and step on it to get to Setup Active mode.

Go to:

* www.fitbit.com/scale/setup

* Follow the prompts to give your scale a name and a name for the first person’s profile to use the scale.

* If you’re on a laptop, GO TO THE LAPTOP’s wifi settings and select the Aria wifi. Connect to the Aria wifi.

* THEN follow the prompts and connect to your home wifi network that should show up automatically.

Wait about a minute for the two to sync and boom, you’re done.

Good luck!

Thanks, the Renpho even has a $3 off coupon today $22.99....worth a try, just ordered.  My Aria has been quite reliable for several years, yet since the first of the year it has numerous issues that make it eat batteries and get locked into modes like the latest "Setup Active" that won't go away...crazy; time to try something new.  I wonder if there has been a SW update to the Aria that has caused all these issues.

Exactly the same - i have been trying for months - just give up then eventually try again, same doomloop. I get to the "not working?" screen and try each of the three options - but if they don't work there is no where to go which means you are in a Setup doom loop. I've tried removing the device, I've tried adding it back.  Always in same doom loop. My computer (and phone - tried that too) can see the Aria wifi - but never gets further.  And BTW I really hate the fact that the scale constantly drains the batteries - it basically is constantly switching on so when it was working I had to replace batteries way too frequently and eventually left a battery out all the time. So upside is that now the scale isn't working I don't need to worry about the batteries😓

After trying, off and on, for years -- doing everything I had read online
which included removing the batteries and then reinstalling them, touching
various corners of the scale, and touching my nose while rubbing my belly
-- I finally through that scale away and purchased a Withings scale.
Although the Withings scale doesn't sync data from my Fitbit, or at least I
haven't figured out how to do this, I am extremely pleased with the scale
because it works!

I wish you luck!

i have been trying for a couple years to just use my scale as a scale for weighing objects but without any synching or connecting but not possible. so what i have to do it take out the batteries after every use or it will burn them out trying to connect to a non=existing wifi. you still have to go througj the ?thinking process where it tries to figure out who the user is with each and every object you weigh as it has to restart itself each time. so just keep the batteries out because i was never able to solve the problem.  i got rid of my fitbit watch a long time ago after going through 3 which lasted right up to the years warranty expired so i don't need the fitbit app. expensive junk.

 i wish you luck and if you ever figure it out, let us know
