Original Aria scales and Wifi - new connections are still possible

It is still possible to reconnect the original Aria scales, but it's getting to be very complicated process.  Fitbit still have the start page.

 https://www.fitbit.com/scale/setup/start

Remove battery for 10 seconds, then tap to set into Setup Mode

However.  You need to connect to an older WiFi protocol, which means 2.4GHz .  If you router supports it, create a guest network just for the scales, still with a password.

The next step is complicated. Fitbit have removed the DNS settings for your PC to connect to the scales over the scales network when you connect to it.  If you know how, add

192.168.240.1 1.scale.www.fitbit.com

into /etc/hosts file.    The start page at Fitbit will then go to the scale's network page.  You will need to use Chrome or Firefox, with Advanced to ignore the unsecure HTTP connection.  The scales network page should then show your Guest network (or existing 2.4GHz network) SSID. click, enter password, it will then connect and work.

You do get the feeling Fitbit don't want people using the original Aria scales anymore ....
