Update 11/8/2019: Hi everyone - this issue has now been resolved. Thanks again for your reports and patience.
Hello Aria Air customers - we are aware of an issue that is currently preventing your Aria Air from syncing properly. If you set up Aria Air after 10/28, you will not be able to sync until this issue is resolved.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. We will update this thread as soon as we have more details on this fix, and appreciate your patience in the meantime.

Fitbit must have changed something on their backend or silently in the app yesterday, because it now works. I didn't have to do anything.
They fixed it just in time for me, as I have this afternoon off work and was planning to take it back to the store then!

Good to hear it's fixed. But a little disappointed that you actually have to save it yourself. I actually pay more just to have it fill in the weight for me. To do this manually with a normal weight would take me aprox. 1-2 seconds more.. This is not really a smart-weight

Mine was able to sync this morning, I didn’t open the app until I was already on the scale but it worked!!!

Kate,
Sorry, still No Joy!
Still Not working!
also what a bunch of unrealistic requirements,
Aria can be the only Bluetooth device?
Have to have an iPad or iPad with me in the bathroom, the app open and manually save???
Let me know when really fixed or
can I get swapped for WIFI ARIA 2!

Kate,
Sorry, I really don’t consider this a fix,
scale still does not show as a Bluetooth device.
However, with the app open to the right screen and standing on the scale, I did get a pop up with the weight and asked to manually save.
that is such a leap backwards in technology from Aria! Where you weighed and walked away!!
going backwards to Have to have an iPad or iPad with me in the bathroom, the app open and manually save???
Let me know if or when this will really be fixed or can I get swapped for WIFI ARIA 2!

Please tell what was wrong, and how you managed to fix it without updating the app or the scale...

I can also confirm mine is now working without an update to the app. Good thing I checked this thread as it was going back this weekend.

How was it resolved (firmware update, app update, magic fairy, etc.).
Please tell users what step(s) they need to take to resolve the issue (update the firmware on the scale, update the app on the phone, sleep with the scale under the pillow tonight, etc.)

So mine works now!!!
i have kept it out and was just logging my weight manually with it. I just jumped on and sat down to log the weight. Fitbit was magically asking me to confirm weight!
I’m super happy that they’ve fixed this.
There was a problem. We brought it to light. They fixed it. Problem solved.

Don’t know what they do but now it syncs. But just fırthe weight! What about the bmi, % etc? Will it be fixed or should we return?

Two problems on this thread...
Now, admittedly, had I thought more about the limitations of this being bluetooth only I may have had second thoughts about its usefulness myself and not bought it. However, we can hardly blame Fitbit for us not researching what the product does before buying it. That would be like me complaining my new car doesn't fly because I didn't bother to check whether it was a flying car before buying it 😝

You lost me. There is only 1 problem addressed in this thread- the Aria Air will not sync with the app.
My job requires I maintain two homes. I’ve had a first generation Aria for over 5 years and recently purchased an Aria 2 for my second home. My old Aria is now broken and I saw the Aria Air and decided to purchase it as a replacement. I was not too worried about reading the reviews- I’ve never had problems with FitBit scales. But when I saw the reviews on Amazon- I cancelled my order. It has the lowest reviews of any product I have ever seen.
I would like to re-place my order, but I first want to know more about how the sync issue was fixed. Regardless of whether the scale is syncing directly with the app on a mobile device via Bluetooth or by accessing the user’s FitBit account via the internet (WiFi), if owners are following the directions and the sync does not occur, an understanding of the technology is not a variable that determines whether or not it works.
Before I re-order, I want to know how the issue was resolved. If it was a firmware update, then the fault was in the scale. If an App update resolved the issue, then the sync problem was resident in the mobile device.
Its not about buying a flying car....
A better analogy using cars would be asking the manufacturer what was done to fix a function such as braking, which is a universally accepted function of a car. Likewise, a Bluetooth smart scale should, by definition, communicate with the mobile device.

You missed my point entirely. I'll try again. Things people on this thread are complaining about,

I did not miss your point. If you wear a hat, it may not be as noticeable. You were merely stating:
1. There is a sync issue
2. Users do not understand how the product is supposed to function
Why would you expect a user to understand how a product is supposed to work when it doesn’t?
I’ve not read all the posts, nor do I intend to.
However, the fix (if it truly is fixed at this point) has happened in the past 24 hours. The thread is weeks old. If someone tried other ways to get the scales to sync while they were troubleshooting, I cannot fault them for a couple of reasons. Not only was the product not functioning as described in material published by the manufacturer, there was very little info coming from FitBit on the issue. All FitBit said is “we are aware and addressing the issue.”
It’s called mushroom treatment (kept in the dark and fed manure).
I merely want to know what the problem was before I re-initiate my order.

lol! I was responding to those on here who are basically saying “now that it does work as designed, I don’t like the way that it was designed to function.”
I was not criticising people trying different ways to make it work, or any of the other things you suggest I was trying to do.
I am merely saying that if Fitbit release a product that is faulty they should fix it. They did. If it works as designed and people don’t like the way it was designed, that is a review and not a fault report. In other words, a different topic.

What about BMI and other indicators on the scale. Is this just for tracking weight? My 15 $ scale can calculate my BMI & fat %.
11-09-2019 04:37
11-09-2019 04:37
BMI is calculated in the app. But yeah, it doesn’t do anything else. It measures your weight, and syncs that via Bluetooth to the Fitbit app (but you have to do a step in the phone yourself for that to happen each time - tap ‘save’ when the weight sync screen pops up). That’s it. Nothing else.
If I had really thought through the usefulness of the product before buying, I may not have bought it either. But again, that’s a review, not a fault report. The fault with the product is now fixed.

The fitbit aira air does not have a body mass sensor. Only weight
