There has been a consistent difficulty with setting up the Aria Air scale since Fitbit moved to Google. When attempting to pair the device, an error occurs. Scale issue.jpg

I have the update ... and the same error occurs still. Fix doesn't work for me.

Make sure you delete/disconnect the scale from your account, reset it, and then re-add. Should work fine after that.

@AUnicorn I got the update and aria air scale was not a device on  account.  I reset the scale using the button on the back, tried to add the scale to my account- didn’t see that error message we used to see, but it never found the scale either! I’ll have to try again another day!

So I could not get Aria scale connected to Fitbit app on iPad, but it DID connect to Fitbit on my iPhone! I’ll see if it syncs tomorrow morning!

@LizzyFitbit  thanks for the update!I was happy to see it worked for most people. I tried on my iPad- no error message, but it also never found the Aria air scale. I tried with my iPhone, but since Bluetooth was off for Fitbit , it didn’t work the first time.  But after I turned Bluetooth on for Fitbit, I was able to get scale connected! Tomorrow I’ll have to remember to use iPhone to sync it!

Yes. It finally worked and paired with the scale via my iPhone.

This seems little more than a partial fix... connects for some and doesn't for others.

Mine connected to my phone and the Fitbit app without the error but it doesn't sync my weight to the app at all... still not working as intended and still pretty useless

Re: Self-help - update Scale chip

To: Anyone seeking to fix their scale

There is a chip inside the Aria Air scale that needs to be updated.

In the recent Fitbit App 4.4 update there is a detail instruction to press and hold the reset button (on the underside is the scale) until the display reads “ota” (Over The Air) to effect an update of the chip. Instructions are displayed on the app the first time you proceed to update the app.

The above is true & accurate to the best of my knowledge. I’m a human.

I don't disagree that this advice is true and accurate. What I disagree with is that it remains true and accurate for everyone and herein lies the issue with this product. The advice is not only intermittent but it is inconsistent in its application.

My scales are up to date and they are paired to app 4.4 but still, they don't currently sync with the app. All they do is pair.

As such, they are not fit for purpose.

I am discouraged from saying anything more on the management of this issue so I'm just going to leave this right here, give up on this product ever working as it should and vote with my feet.

Tech resistant, I respect and acknowledge your point of view, so very clearly expressed. On a lighter note, it seems like the process we witnessed was more wrecknology than technology

Best Answer

I like it... Wrecknology.

You may be right... my scale has completely disappeared form my app now and I can't re-pair it because it says it's connected but it doesn't record my weight either and now I need ton invite myself to use it..?. Part of me is just fascinated with the whole process but, in all fairness, it's probably better for my mental health just to let this go as a bad move, look at other brands and drop these off in the recycle box.

The update solved the problem.

I did need to remove the scale from the app first.

Best Answer

I have updated my app, reset my scales multiple times and I’m still unable to add other users. My account is syncing but when I invite a new user and they follow the connection process the scale will not sync for them and instead an error message which says they need to request a new invite or tester scales. I have made sure only one app was on at the time.
is anyone else still finding this a problem, I’m so frustrated.

Does anyone who has had success own an Aria 2? I have reset and still
have the same error, but my scale is an Aria 2, not Aria Air.

If you can access the user manual for your Aria 2 scale, either at:

Fitbit Aria 2 user manual

or

Instructions in manual to Reset Aria 2 scale

you may learn to reset your scale.

It goes without saying, I'm not an expert, but all this is true to the best of my knowledge and research (on this Community Board).

G'luck -- if you still have the scale.

I read the manual and tried to reset multiple times. Followed all steps.
For the first time in Fitbit history I returned an item.
