@adammiarka, Fitbit has sent out trackers to certain reviewers already, to get everyone hyped up about the new product. The general public has to wait until next month. Thanks for sharing!

Just watched the video along with a few friends that have FitBits (Charge and Charge HR's). Please tell me that the reviewer didn’t know what they were doing and you really don’t need to remove the tracker from the band to charge it. That would be ridiculous. The method of charging my Charge HR is bad enough. But having to take it apart to charge it? Our jaws just about hit the floor when we saw that.

The thread on charging the Alta shows pretty pictures of the charger and band attached at the same time.

Edit: Sorry, for some reason I missed that this was the Blaze forum. My mistake.

I took a look in the Alta section and found a thread about charging, but didn't see anything about the Blaze. I just found a topic here in the Blaze section about charging and it does indeed sound like it needs the band removed to be charged. Very unfortunate.

If I'm wrong, please point me where you saw a Blaze being charged with it assembled. I'm being offered a free Blaze to evaluate from my company and I don't want to waste anyone's time or money if you really have to take it apart to charge it. Based on that alone, the Blaze isn't something I'd want for myself or can recommend my company offer to our members.

@MikeS1971

A Fitbit moderator that is using the Blaze confirmed it must be removed from the frame, and then inserted into the charger. Details here:

@MikeS1971 if I'm reading you correctly, without looking at the Blaze, and without knowing what is required or the steps required to charge the Blaze, just the fact that it has be removed from the band means it is not worth your time. So without touching it you have given it a 1 star rating.

The video shows that it is a 1 second process to remove from the frame,  what it doesn't show is that the charger is a small case the unit pops into.

@Rich_Laue Yes. Exactly. First impressions go a long way with any product. And my first impression with the Blaze charging method is that its not worth it to have to take it apart to charge it. My impression is that the more you take something apart, the more wear and tear mating surfaces are subjected to.

I'm sure a lot of people have heard of the acronym KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). This is something FitBit needs to embrace. The more simple the better. It's seems like only the charging method needs reworking, not the tracker itself. If they could make it so the entire unit clapses into the charging base, that would be a huge benefit. Even better would be a standardized charger. Since it's not touted as waterproof, only water resistant, why can't a micro USB port be on its side? This is something I'd like to inquire about to FitBit designers. Are there limitations preventing this?

I'm being offered a Blaze for free and I don't want it based on what I've seen on that one video. If I were to buy one without seeing the video, I'd return it. At this point, I'd actually like to talk to someone directly at FitBit about this. I'm only 30 minutes from their corporate offices. I'd happily talk to someone there. Heck, I'd happily arrange a meeting between myself, FitBit and the managers of my company that would be responsible for the hundreds of thousands of dollars that could be potentially spent.

I agree with MikeS1971.  After watching that video, I will not be replacing my Surge with a Blaze -- even though I was seriously considering it.  But I agree on the wear and tear issue of having to remove the face everytime you charge it.  I think eventually it will just start falling out of the frame.

I don't mind having to take the face out of the frame to charge although I can see the potential of creating a docking unit where you can charge it with the band on.  I also can see where removing the unit would be necessary anyway if the user liked to change their bands on a regular basis.  I don't know.  I'm willing to give it all a go.

I doubt the Blaze is going to have issues being taken out a lot. It was designed to be taken out a lot when switching bands which some people do 2+ times a day depending on band options and moods.
