Active minutes not matching the activity time

last week i did a spin class, after the class was over i hit stop work out, on the blaze screen it displayed the 45 min class calories burned ect.. i hit done. then i went in to the screen in the blaze that shows all the progress of the day, under active min it said zero minutes, i was confused so i check the app still zero min but i could see the spin class with all the information of the class but gave me zero credit for the class. i just thought it was because my battery was low so i left it at that! it worked fine the next day and the rest of the week. but today after a boot camp class that was 45 min it only gave me 12 min active min and a brisk walk on the treadmill for 27 min gave me a total for the day of 33 min.. customer service was no help. it odd that some times it tracks all exercise  as active min then other times it doesn't! any suggestions? ive already tried to restart the app and the tracker

Hi there @ashleymirelez18. Good to see you around! 🙂

When it comes to active minutes, it is all based on the intensity of your activity and not necessarily on the time you spent doing an specific activity.

Fitbit devices calculate active minutes using metabolic equivalents (METs). METs help measure the energy expenditure of various activities. A MET of 1 indicates a body at rest. Fitbit devices estimate your MET value in any given minute by calculating the intensity of your activity.

You earn active minutes for activities at or above about 3 METs and active minutes are only awarded after 10 minutes of continuous moderate-to-intense activity.

It is very important that you keep the same high intensity on your activity for at least 10 minutes for that to be recorded as an activity and for the active minutes to be awarded. Making pauses or lowering the intensity of the activity while you're at it will cause the exercise not to be recognized and for the active minutes not to be awarded.

Hope this helps and anything else you may need, I'm always around!

I'm having the same problem and not sure I understand your answer.

Did the spin bike for 20 minutes (pretty active minutes) and instead it registered 12 minutes.  What should I do?  Thanks.

Have you found an answer to this as I am having the same issue?  Did a spin for 46 mins and it said I only did 27 mins!
