currently i have a surge and thinking of switching to a Blaze but contemplating of switching. only reason why i'm switching is because lately my surge has been off in recording my heart rate readings and i like the asethics of the blaze with switching bands, etc. anyone do the switch and what were your reasonings behind it?

The main reason i would think would be the size.
A switch like this might be considered a downgrade if yhe user has no need for the extra functions found on the Blaze.

Surge GPS is more reliable than Blaze Connected GPS, it that matters to you. From recent investor calls, the Surge is considered a legacy device by Fitbit management, and that is usually code for "long overdue for replacement" if you know what I mean... And Fitbit is on record with plans to launch a smartwatch, which I would argue will "replace" the Blaze, not saying Fitbit will stop selling Blaze, its unclear, but its fair to assume new smartwatch will get all the attention (like new Android phones get updates while older phones are ignored). And the Fitbit smartwatch is expected to support 3rd party apps and payment. Some of us have hopes the new smartwatch will be in a Blaze like form factor, have waterproofing to allow swimming, include GPS, support apps, and have a payment (all like Apple Watch, but with Fitbit spin).
So you might want to hold out, although it could be a long wait as 2017 has 8 more months to go. Just be sure and buy from an authorized reseller so you qualify for the warranty.

My surge wrist band was broken after about six month, it cracked on the inside, around the device. So instead of getting a new one, i added a few bucks and upgraded to Blaze.

Tao75 - any significant differences with the Blaze compared with the Surge? I know the Blaze does not include the integrated GPS and you have to remove the Blaze from the straps to charge.

A key issue that I had with the Surge, and why I chose the Blaze, is that the Surge strap cannot be replaced, or so it seems.
A while back I owned an expensive Nike sports watch with chest band. The watch strap eventually deteriorated and needed replacement. After an extensive on-line search I found that new straps were not available as they were an integral part to the watch. Hence, this meant scrapping an otherwise expensive product. Lesson learnt.

I've been a Surge owner for almost two and a half years, and my 2nd Surge strap is breaking. Fitbit replaced the first Surge for me, but will not replace this one thus my reason on switching to the Blaze.
