Back button no longer operates to return to watch face

My Blaze worked fine for a few months and then the back button behaved erratically for a few days before finally not working at all to return from a sub-menu to the watch face. I can return to the watch face using the charger and was then able to shut down. The strange thing is that the back button always functions to turn the device back on, suggesting the problem is not physical fault, but the problem remains after resuming power up. I ran down the battery totally and then connected to the charger. This time, strangely again, the back button had full functionality for a few hours and then stopped working again. It may be coincidence but the fault appeared around the time of updating the latest firmware. I have no idea how to proceed from here so any help would be most appreciated.

It's great to have you here @Yoss! Thanks for the details that you've provided. In this case, if your buttons are not working, you may be able to remove dust or dirt by gently using a toothpick around the button.

If this does not improve the button performance, you can try to clear debris using canned air. Hold the tracker and spray once to loosen any dirt or dust that may have accumulated around the button.

Thanks for the advice @WendyB! 🙂

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Silvia,

The button works first time every time it is used to power up the watch
after shut down, without fail. I've done this numerous times. It does
not respond at all when trying to use it's back function, no matter how
times I press. I've pressed the button when in or out of the band. In
either case there is a positive click and return. Inspection under a
magnifier reveals no foreign material embedded around the button. As
mentioned previously, I don't think it is a physical fault.

Cheers,

Yoss

Hi Wendy,

I agree that it seems to be the way to go. I've already tried the
standard answers to similar problems listed in the forum.

Thanks and Cheers,

Jos

I did not contact support but kept trying things. I found that the right hand two buttons would not work for any of the functions either.  Today, instead of connecting with Fitbit Connect, I installed a Bluetooth dongle on my computer, connected and synched and magically after weeks of failure, all buttons started working normally. I can only conclude that firmware was somehow corrupt ad somehow got straightened out.   ??????
