Fitbit Update: 09/3/2017

Our team is still actively investigating the root cause of this battery drain with Blaze and the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+. I'm sorry that many of you are still having issues with a shorter battery life, but rest assured this is being looked at as high-priority for our team. My apologies for the inconvenience, and thank you all for your patience! I will provide an update as soon as there is more information available. In the meantime, please continue manually syncing your Blaze trackers only when needed. This will help preserve the battery-life.

Fitbit Update: 08/14/2017

Hi everybody!

Thanks for reporting your experiences with a rapid battery drain on Blaze trackers and your Android device - Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+. Our team is aware this is affecting Blaze users and they are investigating the root cause. I will update this thread when there is more information available.

As a temporary workaround, turn OFF "Always Connected" and the "All-Day sync" features. Make sure to manually sync your devices at least once a day.

Thanks for your patience!

I will say when I got my Samsung S8, I had issues with notifications and syncing and those randomly started working but the battery drained quickly. They just sent me a replacement. Of course the replacement was having issues with Syncing and that started to work but the notifications won't work. So they are sending me another one. They seem to be just sending out Blaze replacement after Blaze replacement. It is extremely frustrating and I am also ready to just switch to a Samsung Smart Watch. Notifications is the main reason I bought the Blaze. So Blaze #3 is in the mail right now. I am sure when I get it, the issue with notifications will be the same. This is EXTREMELY frustrating.

I will say that I have tried all of the suggested fixes I can find on the boards for notifications, nothing has worked so far. I am welcome to any suggestions from people in here!

I saw the message about the update, so I re-synced my fitbit (AGAIN) with my GS8 and I did receive notifications of phone calls, but that's it, no notifications of texts, calendar events...

I have been waiting a while for this to be fixed and just fixing the phone call notifications is not good enough.  I guess I will be searching else where for a new fitness tracking device.

What update to the app? I didn't get an update and I've checked and still don't see one.

I have my blaze for just under a month for the last two days I had to charge twice which means it only goes for one day on a full charge. my phones Bluetooth only goes on by my control and off again after I sync manually. Now it's not syncing at all and the battery is a one day show. I'm suspecting there might be a problem with the device. I have contacted and send the query through haven't had a response yet. I had the help option on my app. Do you think it could be the phone even when it's not connected to the device. I haven't changed settings everything is still the same. when I first got the device it was going 5 days

try re-syncing/repairing your Blaze to your phone, that's how I got it to at least send me call notifications, but who knows if it will last.

The update on the app indicates that it was updated on the 26th yesterday.

I think people are talking about two different things. The last Fibit app update was June 12. The last android OS software update (for me) was on June 14th, but I am on verizon. At&t seems to have a more recent OS update.

I believe that a Blaze firmware update is going to be require to fix this issue. The last firmware update was on April 24th.

Just want to add that I am having this issue with my Unlocked S8+ I purchased from Best Buy. Personally, I think this may be a Samsung issue and not a Fitbit issue. The S8 seems to have a lot of Bluetooth issues in general. You can find threads all over about the S8 not connecting to devices and having audio stuttering. I have the stuttering issue in my car.

I have the S8+ and have absolutely no Bluetooth issues. I can connect my Fitbit Blaze, receive all notifications but my Fitbit battery drains in less than a day if I use them. My Kenwood connects fine, my Powerbeats connect fine. It's pretty much the Fitbit that is my problem.

I've tried this multiple times! Still drains fast and no notifications. They are sending my third replacement, but I know the issue is going to be the same.

It's great it's working better for you than some other people including myself, but seeing as no one had this issue their Blaze with other phones prior to the S8/S8+, why is it Fitbits problem? It is still mostly likely Samsung's issue.

Again, a lot of people are having all sorts of bluetooth issues with these phones: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/GS8QA/thread-id/299/page/1

Thank you, that does seem the way to go. It looks perfect. Thanks for your input. Shame on fitbit for not fixing this problem, I am soooo disappointed in them.
