Battery draining Blaze

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a Fitbit blaze that is completely dead. I cannot charge the battery and when I plug it in, the screen turns on like normal, but even after I allow it time for a full charge, the battery says it is completely dead.  I think it needs a reset or something along those lines, but I can't utilize any of the buttons or anything like that because the battery is dead.  Any suggestions?

Did everyone notice a new rash of battery failures? New charge 3 preorder came out today. Expect no support from support now for sure.

On track for 4 days of battery life.

Great ... However you never did report the firmware version and phone software version, nor any of the steps you took run the new software.

0 to full charge in less than 10 minutes using a regular Apple iPhone cube charger ... it is the battery, NOT the software.

All software is at the latest versions.  All up to date.

My 2 1/2 year old Blaze is still on track for a 4 day battery life.  Beats the Apple watch by at least 80 hours per charge.

Apparently all you do is spew garbage and don't know how to read. So let me repeat and this time read.....

Latest versions.  I did absolutely NOTHING to regain battery life.  Maybe you should use a UL listed charger as instructed by FitBit.

Yes @Tammy1105 this is a community discussion forum, where your fellow Fitbit users volunteer their time to help others out. . When it comes to battery, it could be a manufacturing problem , Fitbit has no control over that, but this should be rare, unless a bad shipment came in.

The way the battery has been maintained will also have a bearing on battry life.

Of course if the software was causing excess drain at some time, this could also affect the battery life. The smaller battery is wlso easier to damage when left in a hot environment.

You might consider rereading the community guidelines.

@Tammy1105 I am not the one claiming there is a software update that fixes the Fitbit Blaze's battery issue. @KB9WNS, the self-proclaimed hardware export, is!

Look at the disinformation that @KB9WNS has been spreading. I addressed @KB9WNS's bogus, for a lack of a better term, claims that the Fitbit Blaze's battery issues will return to normal after the most recent software update. There is no update that will increase a Fitbit's battery life from ~24 hours back to 4+ days. I asked @KB9WNS to provide details on his modern day miracle, he hasn't. What @KB9WNS has provided is vague and disinformation.

Just in case anyone bought into @KB9WNS's bogus claims, I went into great detail on how one could verify their Fitbit Blaze's firmware and phone software versions. That way they could check their own software verions.  I also went into detail on my charging issue, so far as to provide the USB transformer which I used. Which @KB9WNS read as I was barging about Apple Watch. Really, dude, come on read before you post.

I am just as upset as the next person in the community is, or will be, about the Fitbit Blaze's battery issue.  The last thing the community needs is someone spreading tripe about some miracle vaporware update that will transform their Fitbit Blaze's battery life. There is no update that will increase a Fitbit's battery life from ~24 hours back to 4+ days.

Fitbit Blaze purchased: Aug 2016
Latest Fitbit Blaze firmware: 8.402.1 (released fall of 2017)
Latest iPhone app: 2.77 (released: Aug 21, 2018)

Noticeable battery life loss started: July 2018
Current battery life on a full charge: just over 24 hours
Current Fitbit Blaze charge time from 0 to full: ~10 mins (using an Apple iPhone cube charger)

Again, there is no update that will increase a Fitbit's battery life from ~24 hours back to 4+ days.

I am finished beating this dead horse.

Every Blaze owner is going to have a battery issue, however, I am surprised that there are only 29 votes for the Replaceable Battery request in Fitbit Community -> Help Forums -> Feature Suggestions.

Not that any Blaze owner is going to ever purchase another Fitbit product, but voting for the Replaceable Battery would be a proactive, albeit futile gesture.  Who knows this may send a huge message to Fitbit, but more likely to anyone thinking of purchasing a Fitbit product, that a replaceable battery is essential.  Whether it is user or manufacturer replaceable.

Everyone that has googled "Blaze replacement battery" has seen the videos showing that the Blaze's batteries are in fact replaceable.  One would think Fitbit would offer a Manufacturer Battery Replacement program for a reasonable fee, $25-$50. Keeping its customers happy and loyal.  Then when Fitbit releases a compelling new product (sorry the Ionic and Versa are not), loyal customers would willingly upgrade.  For example, how many Blaze owners previously owned a Charge HR?

Well I'm having the same issue, have had to charge my blaze 3 days in a row now after 18 months of perfect battery life.

NOTE: it did an update last week, was perfectly fine before this.

Another thing I noticed this morning is apparently my heart rate is going from 62 up to 84 and anywhere in between, whilst it is in the charger 🙄  HOW EXACTLY??  Does the charger have a pulse now?

Have done all the cleaning and resetting recommended and still no joy. Also, it takes hours to charge just for 1 day of battery life! No point calling support, out of warranty and there is no way I'm paying that expense for another one!

Buy another device!

Fitbit does not support the repair of the Blaze.

Take a look at the other forums on Blaze battery problems.  You will find them eye openings!

Profit is king. They prove that everytime someone calls support. I bought my first Fitbit within 6 months of it coming out. I've upgraded with every new model.  Problems started with the flex and has gotten worse with all since the Flex. I think the Blaze will be my last. A $20 one from Walmart is more dependable

How do you “reset” .. I have tried everything & let my Blaze charge a whole day & it only last 3 hours tops!!! Sooo frustrating

I think the problem for me was moisture inside my Blaze, this was causing excessive resets which then drained the battery. I left my Blaze in a very warm and dry place for several days, I fixed to a warm pipe on our home heating system, held in place with sellotape. I then recharged it and it has been good since, normally takes 36 -48 hours now before i get a low battery reminder.

If you wear your Blaze to the gym (sweat from wrists) or accidentally get it wet (jump in swimming pool while wearing), it CAN get wet inside.

Hope this helps, Jon.

Add me to the group of people who have a battery that just died after not even two years.  The tracker was working quite well until about two months ago when it stopped registering stairs.  I reset it and it was working okay again, but I started to notice a definite drop in battery life.

Of course, it completely failed when I was running a 1/2 marathon.  I had charged it the night before and after the race, it had gone off with a low battery warning.  I put it on the charger and it reset itself but would not charge.

I followed all the recommended actions with no resolution and when I tried to charge again, the battery overheated.  It would reset each time I put it in the charger.

When I contacted support they asked just the basic questions of cleaning, resetting, and trying a different USB connection, and then said I would need to replace the unit because it was out of warranty and offered a 25% discount on new units.  This still means spending from $100 to $250 dollars and after reading all these reports, I have serious doubts about Fitbit.  Even the moderators on this forum said the same thing.

I agree with others who say you souldn't have to replace the unit every couple of years for $200.  I'll be checking other options, I believe.  Seriously disappointed.

So turn everything off then the battery will never go down in power. How can you make a fitness watch that doesn’t have a battery that lasts more than a year and a half?

poor design!!

I usually refrain from responding to forums as the information received is not always reliable but I have a Blaze and it too has started to show a degraded battery life. I’m having to charge every morning which usually means it’s still in the charger when I leave for work. It’s now no more than a glorified sleep tracker. And if I do grab it from the charger before I leave for work, it needs to be charged again overnight which means I don’t get my sleep tracked.

There’s clearly one underlying factor - FitBit batteries are not designed to last and FitBit don’t give a **ahem**..

My Blaze was given to me as a Father’s Day present. I won’t be replacing it..
