Biking route distance inaccurate

Hi there,

I've been having a lot of inaccuracy with the distance reported when I'm biking. For context, I have been biking the same route regularly for several years, so I know the exact distance. I have tracked the distance with several tracking devices in the past, including using MapmuRun with my current phone and the variation in distance is relatively minimal. (6.3 km app.). Ever since I started using the Blaze I

get distances anywhere from 3 to 5 km but never the 6.3.

Edit: I should add that the route looks perfect in the map after I have synced the exercise. It's just the distance that is of

Also, every time I use the exercise > bike mode the Blaze is unable to sync with my phone anymore. I learned that by force stopping the Fitbit app will fix the problem until the next time I bike, but I'd like to know if a better solution exist.

I think I can help you out with this issue! It sounds from what you say that your tracker cannot connect to your phone when you're starting the activity, therefore, your riding distance is being calculated based on your walking stride length which will not be accurate for this purpose.

What I can recommend is refreshing the connection between your  tracker and your phone to make sure that when you go into the biking mode, it will connect to your phone and it will then report the GPS distance rather than the distance that is tracked from your Blaze.

Now, for this, remove the Bluetooth bond between your tracker and your phone. For this, go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone. On your connected devices, look for your tracker. Tap on it, then choose the option that says "Forget this device". Once you've done this, I would recommend making sure to sync your tracker to avoid losing any unsynced data and then, proceed to set up your tracker as a new device. For this, go to the Account section at the top right corner on the Fitbit app and select the option that says "Set up a new device". Follow the on-screen instructions and once you're done, your tracker should be syncing without a problem.

The next time you go out biking, make sure that the internet on your phone is turned on and that you choose the Outdoor Bike shortcut on your Blaze and wait for it to connect. Once this happens, go on your bike ride, when you're done, finish it on your tracker and then sync your tracker and see if there's any improvement.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else!
