Blaze Calories burned is too low for my workout

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've had my Blaze for several months now.  I only just started working out again.  I did a fitness class that includes kickboxing and weights.  I have done the same class in the past with a FitBit Charge HR, and consistently burned 300+ calories during the 45 minute class.  My Blaze only says I burned 170.

What I can do to fix this issue?

Hi there @Jen177. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums!

What I can suggest at the moment, would be taking care of the placing of your tracker on your wrist as this is  very important to measure your blood flow and for the heart rate monitor to determine your calorie burn from this.

You can experiment with wearing the tracker higher on your wrist during exercise. Because blood flow in your arm increases the farther up you go, moving the tracker up a couple inches can improve the heart rate signal. Also, many exercises such as push-ups cause you to bend your wrist frequently, which is more likely to interfere with the heart rate signal if the tracker is lower on your wrist.

Do not wear your tracker too tight; a tight band restricts blood flow, potentially affecting the heart rate signal. That being said, the tracker should also be slightly tighter (snug but not constricting) during exercise than during all-day wear.

Try that out and let me know if you see any improvement!

I never trust calories on the blaze. I think they are wrong during exercises but at the end of the day, the total amount is in the ball park of what it is supposed to be.

That is strange that you burn less. I usually burn more.

For example, if I was 10 mn, it will tell me that I burn 60 calories when it should have been 30. My avg BPM is 80 during a 3 mph walk.
Try the suggestion that was made about wearing it higher and tighter...

I had my exercise class again last night.  I wore the Blaze further up on my arm, as recommended. Same results.  I used to have a Fit Bit Charge HR, that consistently showed a calorie burn of 280-320 for the same exercise class, which is kickboxing and weights for 35 minutes, then a 10 minute cool down. The Blaze has shown a calorie burn of about 170 both times I went to the class.  I have a friend that goes to the same class, has a  Charge 2 and hers consistently gives a calorie burn of around 300.

I can guarantee, that she is not working out twice as hard as I am.  LOL

So, what options do I have?  I would really like to get a more accurate reading.  Could there be something wrong with my Blaze?  It seems like most people are posting that their calorie burn is too high.
