I thought it may be useful to have a simple topic to track instances of this problem (the buzz on your wrist during a run, you look down, and there is a little mobile icon with a red line through it).
You will find that after the run or exercise, that the GPS tracking died right at the moment you got the error on the Blaze screen.
SO. Rather than discuss the problem, or possible work-around in this topic, can you perhaps just leave a reply to say "me too" and also list your mobile device?
This issue may be more common on android, but I'm not sure. I know of at least one person experiencing this on an iPhone 7, but I have a friend with an iPhone 6 who has NEVER experienced this.
So I'll go first..... I get this on every run, randomly. I use a Google Nexus 5x (android). VERY frustrated.

I had the same issue, and I was really annoyed.
Then maybe I've found a solution: just allow the keep-alive widget.
The last two run I didn't have any problem, and the connection was stable all the time, I didn't unistall the app or restarted my phone.
The steps that I've done before starting the run was to open the app fitbit and then open spotify.
Hope that "guide" will help someone.

I don't think that spotify helps in any way. The trick is to use the keep-alive widget in the notification bar and make sure that the app is running during the session.

The steps required to get GPS working will depend on the type of phone being used, and will vary somewhat depending on which type of android phone.

So.... I have read many reviews and tried about everything possible. I actually had a Blaze that worked great with connected GPS....then it died, and was replaced (free). New one has never kept a GPS connection. Same phone. Very disappointed with Fitbit experience. Any news on this problem? Looking at abandoning Fitbit.

Turning on notifications on blaze and wifi off on pixel seems to be doing the trick for me.

Mine was pretty solid the first two years I had the Blaze, but since Spring this year, it's been hit or miss. Drops off more often than not. I still engage bike mode as heart rate and stuff still works, but I track miles with Samsung Health now.

Every app is better than that crappy device. I went to Garmin after these experiences with the Blaze. It wasn't only that thing that I had to run the app on my phone. It was also that annoying thing that the screen didn't stay on during exercises so I had to wave mey arms around or slap on the watch. However you can do that during planks or pushups... Sometimes I track my runs with my phone too, using Sportractive.

Disconnect with GPS happens more and more frequently. I have a Galaxy S7. I never use the GPS connect but the GPS on my phone. not ideal when running.
