Firmware version 17.8.301.8 - Resolves a syncing issue with Apple iOS version 10.2

Workout mode missing? Not a problem! Just follow the steps for adding it back

 Hey everyone! Robot Happy

We're rolling out a new update for Blaze, release notes below:

  • In addition to call, text, and calendar event notifications, thirdpartyapps.jpgyou can receive notifications from email and other third-party apps on your tracker.Common emojis also appear. Keep in mind all notifications currently on your tracker will be deleted after the update.
  • You can receive reminders to move throughout the day.
  • Five new clock faces are available. Navigate to your device settings and check them out!

This release also resolves the following issue:

  • Some users reported that auto-brightness was too dim or delayed.

Important to note: A sync is required after a manual shutdown or a battery drain in order to show the correct time on Blaze. This is especially important for your activity tracked by Blaze because you'll want to make sure it's associated with the current date and time.

Yes great update, but surely having to sync the watch everytime you turn it off and on again is an oversite?

I switch mine off every night to preserve the battery and to discover when you turn it back on again that it starts at the time it was switched off the night before?

Otherwise very happy with the update, if this issue is resolved I'd be even happier!

Keep up the great work Fitbit Smiley Very Happy

There is no need to switch it off. Instead you shpuld wear it and track your sleep.

I have a fitbit charge for tracking my sleep and as a silent alarm, I find it far more comfortable and less obtrusive. It does a good job of tracking my sleep Smiley Tongue

But you don't need to switch your Blaze off. When it is in the drawer, HR is not working (if in Auto mode). So it needs less battery.

Fair comment, I still feel it is a slight oversight in the firmware update. The previous version did not suffer the same issue and it worked okay being switched off without the need to sync for the time & date to be updated.

This aside its a great update Smiley Very Happy

I remove my Blaze from my hand for the night. In the morning it sometimes shows 600 (!?) steps.

What is wrong and how can it be fixed?

The most recent firmware update has rendered my Blaze useless. I have to manual sync everytime I use the device. For example, I worked out last night and turned off the device. I turn on the device the next day, and the previous date, time, calories, miles, etc are showing up, until I manually go the app and sync it for following day use. All the goals I have set go off the moment I sync it and I havent even used the device for the day. I know the tracker has been programed to calculate calories throughout the day but it makes no sense when it already sets off and I have manually figure everything out in terms of miles, calories, etc. I know it sounds like I'm a lazy person but whats the point in the having a device you pay 200+ dollars for and you have to manually do everything yourself. I've spoken with people at my local gym that I go too that also have blazes, and they have also experienced the same issue. Before the firmware update I had ZERO issues with the device, everything would be automatically resetted on its own when I turned on the device for following day use. I've spoken with customer support in detail about this issue for the past 3 and half weeks. They are well aware of the issue and have admitted that its an engineering issue. I just wanted to see if other people in the fitbit community are experiencing the same issue as well.

Exactly!! I am so frustrated!! I also have problems with it not connecting to my phone GPS when I exercise walking / running. Before this awful update my Blaze worked great. They need to fix this.. Either that or send me back my $200!

Is it really possible to stop the session by touching the screen? I thought it is only possible by pressing the buttons. However I never had this problem although I wear long sleeves during my runs.

I do it to converse battery, I don't wear it to sleep or anything. No point in having it on throughout the night if you arent wearing the device. IMO

I've posted abotu the EXACT SAME THING, and completely agree.  Before the update, I had no problems, and now I have a huge issue with being forced to resync it every morning when I turn it on.  Someone had the nerve to suggest that it doesn't impact the battery life at all, but if I don't turn it off at night, I wind up having to charge multiple times/week, otherwise, I only need to once/week.  Ugh.

I wear mine 24h (well, not during shower) and I have to recharge it every 4 or 5 days, even when I used connected GPS.

Yes it does seem strange that people attempt to argue that leaving a watch on doesn't use any more battery than a watch that is turned off.  Fundamental Physics aside (**ahem** that first law of thermodymics...), Blaze has an on/off switch, you know, so you can turn it off.  Get 3/4/5 days whilst leaving it on?  Awesome.  Get 4/5/6 days whilst turning it off at night.  Even awesomer.  Save the planet whilst doing so.  Well that just blows my mind.

It's a watch.  It should tell the time.  It's really not that hard, casio were doing it in the '80's.  Blaze told the time before this update, why doesn't it now?  What benefit is there for me or you, the customer, the person who bought the item and paid for a premium membership?  Garmin watches manage to tell the time...

A 24/7 activity tracker that is turned off at night. What is the problem to sync it after switching it on again?

There is no anecdotal evidence to even suggest that turning it off saves on the battery. My battery lasts 5 to 6 days.

If you're having problems with the Blaze, from what I've seen, that's the cause. Leave it on. You won't have the sync and watch issues.

If you don't want to wear the Blaze at night, just put it on the table. A few seconds later HR is switched off. So I don't believe that it needs so much battery that turning it off would have a big effect.

Andrew,

Since the recent update I am seeing issues with the syncing between my Blaze and MyFitness Pal. I have to disconnect and reconnect everyday. Have you heard other issues with this? Any suggestions?

@fingers743 The firmware update for Blaze wouldn't affect the connection between Fitbit and MyFitnessPal. You can try the troubleshoot I posted here, but if you continue to have an issue with the integration, then contacting MyFitnessPal would be your best option.
