Update 5/6/16:

Hey all,

I've been keeping a close eye on this thread, and I wanted to give a quick update.

For reports of Blaze steps and/or distance being inaccurate, I think this is definitely something worth looking into. I've passed on all the feedback to our team so they can investigate. As a friendly reminder, remember that accuracy depends on many factors.

Here's a couple things being worked on:

For 'Auto' setting being too dim, you can switch to 'Normal' as a workaround in the meantime. Please note switching to 'Normal' will have a slight impact on battery life.

I'll provide updates when I can. Thanks everyone. 🙂

Update 4/27/16:

The firmware update should now be available to everyone. Update your Blaze and let me know how it goes! You can read the release notes for version 17.8.200.3 in the lead post or check them out on our help site. 🙂

Update 4/23/16:

Sorry for the wait, here's the release notes!

"The Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages are now available on Blaze. Note that Blaze is only available for pre-order from fitbit.com in China, Japan, and Korea.

This release also resolves a couple issues:

  • Some customers were unable to resume a paused FitStar workout.
  • Some customers reported problems with the Blaze screen (display)."

You can find these release notes for this update (17.8.200.3) on our help site.

4/21/16:

Hey everybody,

Some of you may have noticed there's a new firmware update for Blaze! We just started pushing this update out yesterday, and just like any other update, we'll be rolling it out in waves. This update focuses on a few bug fixes. Release notes will be posted here soon.

Thanks!

Since I got this last update, it seems that my exercise calories that upload from Fitbit to my fitness pal app have decreased drastically. Was anything changed within the application that would caused this to happen?

Is anyone having problems syncing their Blaze after the recent update? Mine acts likes its syncing but not everything is showing up in the app.

I am syncing my Blaze with my iPhone 6s and everything is working properly.  Once the firmware update was complete on the Blaze I downloaded the updated iPhone FitBit app.

OMG, it worked!!!  Thank you so much @DavS for your suggestions - I did everything you said and was able to get the distance spot on to Endomondo and my step count within 7% accurate, much better than shorting me 20-30% of my steps!

I had a problem with steps as well, and you need to swing your arms like you are power walking.

Set all your settings back to the way they where.

Use the walk app like you normally would.

During the workout, keep the step count on the screen so you can see it as you are walking.

Swing your arms keeping them at a ninety degree angle at the elbo, and swing them so your hands go back as far as your hips and forward as far as you your chest (this is how power walkers walk).

Count the steps as you walk, and check the steps on your Blaze as you walk.

I walk very fast too (4-4.5mph), and my Blaze was only counting a little over half the steps. It was very frustrating because I was working so hard and only getting credit for a little over half the work. Swinging my arms like a power walker it now counts every step.

Another advantage of swinging your arms that way is that you can get up to 10bpm better heart rate and that means a better cardio.

i am pretty sure this will resolve your issue.

Who is going to want to walk like that all the time?

I believe it's a Blaze - not a somatic - issue, although my steps have been fine.

@Lynn_M I have the same issue. After update, the app can't find the blaze to sync sometimes. I might try to download the app gain or turn my phone on and off etc.

Power walkers walk like that all the time, and its the proper way to do it.

my guess is that the Blaze senses the speed and thinks the person is running and adjust the step count to count better if the person holds their arms as though they are running.

just a guess though.

Three things since this upgrade and I've loved my Blaze until a few days ago:

1. Steps are lot more inaccurate than before as many posted on here.

2. The app freezes and sometimes doesn't sync correctly or can't find Blaze despite the phone is next to the watch!

3. Does anyone notice the sleep tracking is off since the upgrade? It still counts me as sleeping when I was awake turned off the silent alarm and moving about.

I was practically in a coma Thu/Fri for 10 hours and the Blaze didn't recognise it.

I just updated my Blaze software less than 2-3 weeks ago. It was a HORRIBLE experience and I am NOT wanting to go through with it again. Why is it needed updated again so soon??? I'm seriously thinking about sending the Blaze back and getting a different tracker. I'm seriously having anxiety thinkjng about updating again.....

Hi, @mandyjorn1978 , if you are happy with the way your Blaze is working and don't want to update, then you don't need to.  Just ignore the instruction to update.

@Bmthlad, it sounds like it didn't reset your steps at midnight. That can happen if you do the update around midnight. Could that be what happened in your case?

After this latest Blaze firmware update, the auto brightness setting (which has worked successfully for me for 8 weeks) now takes 3 seconds to adjust to ambient light. Please fix this.

I've noticed that since the "update", connected GPS doesn't stay connected. In fact the Blaze and my phone can be less than an inch from one another and the Blaze can't link to the phone. Wasn't an issue before.

Text notifications are hit or miss.

Step count was off before, now it's way off. After a period of non movement, it takes at least 100 steps to start counting. Usually more. For example, yesterday I was walking, came to an intersection and had to wait to cross in the cross walk. While waiting for the light to change I look at my step count. I crossed the street, an eight lane expressway, when I got to the sidewalk on the other side I looked at my step count again and it hadn't changed. It took another 30 seconds of walking for it to start counting again.

From what I can figure, I'm being shorted several thousand steps a day.

I am wondering if anyone else is having issues post update with the Sync feature?  My phone suddenly yesterday gave me sync issues when I had no cell service and this morning sitting at my breakfast table it would not sync either claiming it could not find the device both times.

Any ideas or is their another thread on this that someone can point me towards.

Thanks
