Blaze Firmware Update - 17.8.200.3 [Closed]

Update 5/6/16:

Hey all,

I've been keeping a close eye on this thread, and I wanted to give a quick update.

For reports of Blaze steps and/or distance being inaccurate, I think this is definitely something worth looking into. I've passed on all the feedback to our team so they can investigate. As a friendly reminder, remember that accuracy depends on many factors.

Here's a couple things being worked on:

For 'Auto' setting being too dim, you can switch to 'Normal' as a workaround in the meantime. Please note switching to 'Normal' will have a slight impact on battery life.

I'll provide updates when I can. Thanks everyone. 🙂

Update 4/27/16:

The firmware update should now be available to everyone. Update your Blaze and let me know how it goes! You can read the release notes for version 17.8.200.3 in the lead post or check them out on our help site. 🙂

Update 4/23/16:

Sorry for the wait, here's the release notes!

"The Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages are now available on Blaze. Note that Blaze is only available for pre-order from fitbit.com in China, Japan, and Korea.

This release also resolves a couple issues:

  • Some customers were unable to resume a paused FitStar workout.
  • Some customers reported problems with the Blaze screen (display)."

You can find these release notes for this update (17.8.200.3) on our help site.

4/21/16:

Hey everybody,

Some of you may have noticed there's a new firmware update for Blaze! We just started pushing this update out yesterday, and just like any other update, we'll be rolling it out in waves. This update focuses on a few bug fixes. Release notes will be posted here soon.

Thanks!

I'm having the mileage issue, that's why I trick the **ahem** thing with adding inches to my gate. When I test this watch in a mile loop and my Surge. My Surge is dead on, this Blaze seems to be for looks only. If it performed like the Surge and was physically more comfortable it would be great. I love the Surge but it's very cumbersome on a woman's wrist and not attractive if you're trying to wear nicer clothes.

i posted this in another thread with the same topic, but i guess this is the main one.

my treadmill states that i walked 2.22 miles

the Blaze gives me credit for 1.50 miles

it did the same thing yesterday which was when i first noted it...i believe that i am set for a 24" stride, i have to check it again.

i also feel like i am not getting the credit for my work, I am not meeting my daily goal, but i thought it was me.

i just started adding the difference to my daily exercise log.  I hope that this is fixed sooner than later.

@Fands Blaze is probably shorting you steps on the treadmill. The only way I can get mine to credit all my steps is to keep my Blaze hand on my body while treadmilling.

Your stride length is also probably too short, as I'm only 4'10" and my stride length, as calculated by distance divided by number of steps is almost 30".

You really shouldn't have to adjust the normal way you walk to make the Blaze think it's working correctly. It should just work correctly.

Prior to this last update, walking on a treadmill, street or trails yielded the same results. Distance and step count was accurate to an acceptable percentage.

FitBitFitBit should just release the previous firmware version as a bug fix for this one.

@MikeS1971 You know I agree with you, but I've had this problem since I started working out on a treadmill, when I still had a Charge HR. I got my Blaze almost as soon as they started selling them and I've never not had this problem. None of the firmware updates have made any difference for me at all.

I agree with you, I don't do much on a treadmill as I walk dogs and I'm on a trail most of the time. I'll have to test mine out on a treadmill.

I kept adjusting my stride until I got the mileage I used to have with my Surge and flex. Never had a problem with with of those. My boyfriend keeps telling me to get the Garmin that he has.

today---

treadmill 1.11 miles

Blaze credit---gives me .84 miles

and the step count was 2,146

i did change my stride from 24 inches to 25 inches.  but that is how i measured accurately..with a tape measure!  so i did not get redit for .27 of a mile or just a bit more than 1 whole lap...

come ON!!! this is NOT a user issue...

thanks for reading, but i am very frustrated.  $200.00 for what?  i am ready to break out my old pedometer and see if there is a difference.

@Fands I'm 5'3 and my stride is 25 and spot on except when on the treadmill it's about .03 off. I have the Blaze and am on an iPhone 6+. I do wear my tracker on the non-dominant arm and when I walk, I secure it snugly about 3 fingers below the wrist bone as suggested. As I sweat I'm constantly having to move it but for the most part my heart rate and distance are ok. It's the syncing with connected GPS that doesn't work for me - the mileage is way off.

i am on a Galaxy S-6---and again my text messages have disappeared, but i do get phone notications, i can feel my wrist buzzing...but no texts.  I have re-set everything and followed the steps as directed.

but my point is this is a lot of extra work for something that is supposed to enhance my workouts-health goals for exercise.  I am frustrated with all the extra time I have to expend to get things to work.  Fitbit should have a Kiosk as the cellphone carriers do--to set up your Blaze and give their customers F2F support on the spot.

Having a kiosk with representatives helping setup wouldn't fix the issues. But it would make it a lot easier to return them.

With all the issues of just the Blaze, the difficulty some people have with initial setup and getting firmware updates to install, imagine how long the lines would be. I'm imagining something like the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland without a fastpass.

if it wasn't for my friends groups and challenges, i would not keep this product.  it does not perform well at this point and the fact that there is zero response to the postings here that state consumer issues.

Fitbit can dance around their gouging customers an extra $30.00 for "custom coating" a stainless frame that is produced exactly where their product is produced (and all 3rd parties for that matter),   but i am leaning towards the first review I read--it's a one trick pony...to justify the cost of $200 (or $230. for black colored frame)..they have to improve the product and it's asthetics quickly and drastically.

I will not recommend to anyone even with the 20% off coupon from BBBeyond.

i will give it a couple of more weeks before i put this expensive inaccurate thing to rest for a while and go back to the faithful old ONE model.

I agree, I love that most of my friends have a Fitbit and we do weekly challenges. It's nice to motivate one another.

It's hard to compete in challenges when your data is not close to being
accurate.

When will they update the firmware to allow us to control music while using the exercise functions of the Blaze?  Seems like a horrible design to not make the two contiguous.

You can. Hold the upper righthand button for a few seconds and the music controls will appear. Press the button again and the volume controls become available.

Does anyone know when there will be a new update for the Blaze?

If someone already asked this question, I'm sorry there's just way to many pages to read thru.
