Update 5/6/16:

Hey all,

I've been keeping a close eye on this thread, and I wanted to give a quick update.

For reports of Blaze steps and/or distance being inaccurate, I think this is definitely something worth looking into. I've passed on all the feedback to our team so they can investigate. As a friendly reminder, remember that accuracy depends on many factors.

Here's a couple things being worked on:

For 'Auto' setting being too dim, you can switch to 'Normal' as a workaround in the meantime. Please note switching to 'Normal' will have a slight impact on battery life.

I'll provide updates when I can. Thanks everyone. 🙂

Update 4/27/16:

The firmware update should now be available to everyone. Update your Blaze and let me know how it goes! You can read the release notes for version 17.8.200.3 in the lead post or check them out on our help site. 🙂

Update 4/23/16:

Sorry for the wait, here's the release notes!

"The Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages are now available on Blaze. Note that Blaze is only available for pre-order from fitbit.com in China, Japan, and Korea.

This release also resolves a couple issues:

  • Some customers were unable to resume a paused FitStar workout.
  • Some customers reported problems with the Blaze screen (display)."

You can find these release notes for this update (17.8.200.3) on our help site.

4/21/16:

Hey everybody,

Some of you may have noticed there's a new firmware update for Blaze! We just started pushing this update out yesterday, and just like any other update, we'll be rolling it out in waves. This update focuses on a few bug fixes. Release notes will be posted here soon.

Thanks!

@ErickFitbit I had my personal settings setup correctly. I would start a walk activty and averaged 82 bmp. My RHR is around 43 and i have reached 188 as max. I did have 180 as my max at the time.

If i walked 10 mn, it would tell me that i birned 100 calories. I am 5'10, 165 lbs. Way too much. i was wearing another device with hr calories too and it told me that i burned 30 calories.

If i cycled 40 mn at an average of 120 bpm, i woud burn 340 calories and that sounds right.

I know that calories are hard to compute but i walk a lot during the day. So my numbers at the end of the day were inflated.

Most of the people do not care about calories but i am sure if i do a search on this forum, I will find threads about this topic. Like i said, great looking watch, awesome customization.

i'll keep watching.

When is the firmware release date? Also my music volume control on the Blaze won't work with my Ipod touch 4th generation

@ErickFitbit Will the firmware update correct the problem with undercounting steps when swinging one's arms while walking or running? I'm a LITTLE tired of playing zombie on the treadmill!

Is anyone having an issue syncing?
Best Answer

@Anewlucia Only with a PC - for the last 6+ months. I have a 6P, too. Sometimes it takes a bit, but it always works. I found, though before I got my 6P, that it actually helps to turn off the all day sync. I think the connection just gets "tired" if it's on all the time. I do have always connected enabled.

This watch face in the new update!

Nice work, I wanted something simple looking, I hope we can chagne the red to green though.

Looking forward to the new features and accessories.

Edited to add: why is everyone so mad in this thread? If your watch doesn't work, send it back for a replacemnt or buy a different brand, I can assure you after trying the alternatives, the mobile app and features of the Fitbit are better than the competition for your average day-to-day activity tracker.

It looks like three of the anaolgue watch faces will have seconds on them.

Analog-schmanalog! What kind of luddite do you think I am! I'm a modern girl who has long forgotten how to "tell time!"

I was having sync issues. But that has seemed to be fixed. Now is just the watch doesn't work with the GPS on my phone. Very annoying, but the app will track GPS if I remember to use it.

I guess that while we're waiting for the update to come out, the newest watches already have it installed properly.. Like when you buy a new iPhone.. It comes with the latest software out of the box.. So maybe it's not totally a misleading advertising..

@AndrewFitbit Do we have full information about the upcoming firmware update? What items are on the docket?

Well maybe the newest watches have the next update installed, i doubt it, but if they did they most likely are still sitting in the factory.. If you bought a Fitbit Blaze today, you will need to update it to the version you are currently running.

Yeah, I don't  think I've EVER bought ANY computer adjacent product that didn't need to be updated out of the box. PCs, phones, definitely fitbits.

I don't tend to read the products manual before I buy it.... Not sure if others do?

@bbarrera @jb262004 @Uber @MattG92 Those are all features and clock faces that will be coming in the upcoming firmware release that was announced earlier today

And if you buy it today you don't get those features. You should revert back to the old page or add a large disclaimer until the device is updated. Otherwise it's fraudulent. God forbid a bug is found in the new update and it takes three or four months to fix. Not unheard of in the software engineering world.

@ErickFitbit wrote:

@MattG92 The Fitbit Blaze user manual states the following: "Choose from three FitStar workouts."

That's not mentioned on the box or in a place you are likely to find it before you purchase it. Again, fradulent.

@RivalDealer I completely agree. I was thinking the people complaining haven't been proactive with their product. My blaze works EXACTLY like the website said it would. It never said it would have 3rd party notifications. It never said you could reply to messages. The 4 clock faces on the blaze are exactly what they said they'd be on the website.

To the people complaining about advertising features coming soon, clearly you don't own an apple product. Apple had an event based around software updates that won't be available 3+ months. This is whining just to whine. The new blaze update is more than I had expected.

@MattG92 if I'm gonna spend a couple hundred bucks, I tend to do thorough research.

@DibaSr I agree with you about people unhappy about missing features. However, many people are actually having problems with the promised functions of the Blaze, as basic as skipping 70% of steps if you dare swing your arms when you walk. Or the GPS being extremely inaccurate.
