Blaze Heart rate monitor intermittently working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My heart rate monitor on the Blaze just started to intermittently work. Mid-workout today it just stopped taking the heart rate. They lights were still flashing, but it wouldn't register anything. I restarted it and fully charged it. Put it on, and went to sleep. It again didn't take my heart rate and therefore couldn't and didn't record my sleep. But the lights are still flashing on. It started registering my heart rate a few hours ago, but randomly it'll stop and just have dashes. When I check the day on the app, there are hours where it wasn't registering, like I wasn't wearing it, when I was.

Any one have this happen? Do I need to contact customer support or go back to the store I got it from for a new one?

Just to test the device, try changing arm for few hours.

Also, I guess you made sure it was tight enough to avoid movement that could prevent the HR sensor to do its job properly.

Yes it was tight enough. It has been keeping my heart rate an hour during my workout. Then all the sudden stopped. 2 little dashes and even after restarting , taking odd and putting back on nothing.

Hey there @Medeamagic @TheCyberKnight. Good to see you both in the Community Forums!

I'm sorry that your heart rate monitor seems not to be working as it should. I can recommend restarting your tracker and after that, to see how it goes. You can easily do this by pressing the left and lower right buttons for 10-12 seconds. This will make your tracker to reboot.

After that, if needed, put it to charge and see how it goes.

Thanks! I had to contact Fitbit as the Blaze wasn't holding a charge any more either. The customer service was great, and thankfully it was still under warranty and I was sent a new one.  However this one did do something weird with the charge. Was at medium, and then shot to blinking red and when I put on charger it was back to medium within just a few minutes.

Great to hear that they were able to get your tracker replaced for you @Medeamagic! 😄

Now, for the other thing you mention, that sounds very strange... I would expect this to be a one time glitch and for it not to happen again. Please keep an eye on it and see how it goes from now on.

Hi,

I am experiencing the same problem where the Heart Rate monitor worked intermittently and now has completely stopped. The lights are all working but no Heart Rate being registered!

I have tried all the solutions that I have seen on the Forums for this issue but to no avail, the Heart Rate monitor just will not work!

Any thoughts on my next steps?

The heart rate monitor stopped yesterday. I tried all the recommended fixes and nothing worked.  Then woke up this morning and had 141,000 steps, 77 miles, 5300 calories burned and 0 active hrs.  My treadmill workout this morning wouldn't even record.  Just looked at yesterdays log and between 10:30 and midnight, when I was sleeping, I logged 60,000 steps.  Extremely frustrated as I've only had my Blaze about 2 mos.  Any additional suggestions?

I'm having a similar issue. I was working out last night and the heart rate monitor stopped tracking mid-workout. Seemed to loose the charge very quickly after that as well. I charged it and turned it off overnight. This morning I restarted it using the buttons, cleaned the contacts, selected "on" instead of "auto". When the monitor is "on", it registers my heart rate at 70 and doesn't change even though I run around to get my heart rate up. The monitor doesn't register anything if it is on "auto". The lights do still flash. Could there be an issue with the square area between the lights?

During a workout it could be because of sweat. Take it off and dry your arm and the device. This usually sorts it out for me. Also adjusting where it sits on your forearm during training gives a big difference in accuracy. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be just limited to the blaze. Had the same problem with my surge.

Also, try cleaning the sensor somehow. I'm not sure what with as I've never had to do it. ALSO, I have hairy forearms *hidesface* and it helped to shave off the hair where the surge sat. A little drastic but it improved my readings a little.

I chatted online with the tech department today and indeed my blaze unit was confirmed to be faulty!

As it is within the 2 year warranty period I was offered any other monitor from the Fitbit range, at a 50% discount, or a direct replacement. I have gone for the replacement and to be honest I am very impressed with the customer service that I received.

Just need to wait for the replacement and see how long that one lasts, hopefully, longer than the 15 months life that the last one had.

A bit of a hassle but probably one of the best outcomes that I could have expected 🙂

Agree with the above post. Customer service is outstanding with Fitbit. I have very short battery life on my blaze, after only a month or use, and they were more than helpful. They've sent me a replacement as it seems to be a problem with my device. Time will tell 😄

I even got a replacement on my Surge after the warranty period was over. Say what you want about some of their devices, but their Customer service is the best I've ever come across!
