I just bought a new Blaze a few days ago. I played ice hockey last night and it did credit me with 85 active minutes (1:10min fat burn mins and 15min cardio). However, it did not track the time as an exercise event. Blaze has the autodetect feature and I have auto recognize exercise settings set on all activities between 10-15mins. Is this logical on how Blaze should be tracking this type of activity (e.g. active time but no exercise entry)? I would have expected to see an exercise entry after. I have exercise entries for two previous days as 'walks' which means the autodetect did work in the past. I have gone through past posts and see some explanation on active minutes vs. exercise but nothing specific to answer my question.

Hi @brex95w
I have also seen this discrepancy in the Fitbit blaze and I don't know why it doesn't work as I have been not really doing anything at all and I'll check my Fitbit app and it will say "sport" so really wondering about this

I played again last night and although I was tempted to start a manual exercise session, I figured after buying this device just a few days ago I should be benefiting from its advertised features. Again, it captured 74 active minutes and heart rate captured the activity up to max heart rates of 130+. I did have one tracked exercise which was a 17min walk which was puzzling. The time of the walk matched the time I would have gotten out of my vehicle, got my gear out of the trunk and walked to the dressing room so max 5mins. Therefore, not sure why capturing a 17min walk for a max 5min walk to the dressing room. The heart rate for the exercise was consistent in showing only 2-3 mins of my heart rate going to 90 as I got my gear and walked but then the rest of the 'walk' (~14mins) showed a very low HR of about 60-70 or so. Not overly impressed with this $250 device so far after just 4 days of wearing it.

Unfortunately hockey is not one of the auto detectable exercises. So your depending on smart tract to determine that the movements of hockey gets detected as a sport. See the smart track FAQ at http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1933/?pn=1#exercises
Are you sure that while playing Hockey your movements are continuous enough? How many steps does the tracker record while your gliding on skates? This would be a way of determining if Fitbit thinks that you are active.
Personally I find that while smart track works fairly well, it rarely gets my start and stop times correct down to the minute. If it was me I would use the manual multisport mode workout, then reliable after a sync.
