The Fitbit Blaze is getting an update. Fitbit announced on Monday that its fitness smartwatch will soon receive an update that enables third-party notifications and other new features. The update will begin rolling out to Blaze owners later this week. Users will soon be able to view notifications from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Gmail and other third-party apps. The update will also add five new watch faces to the Blaze, which brings the total to nine, and a new move reminder feature.  Rather than a basic "stand" or "move" reminder, the Blaze will now encourage users to meet a mini-step goal of 250 steps each hour. If the goal hasn't been reached 10 minutes prior to the top of the hour, the watch will gently vibrate to remind you to get up and go.

All of this is true, but it won't be realeased this week. It is coming soon, and we can hope sooner than later.

Is there somewhere an "official" announcement of this update perhaps in this forum?

@SunsetRunner  Fitbit will "announce" this on the forums when it is released.  They usually do a sticky post at top of the Blaze forum announcing the release, and what is included.

Will this be for Android users?   I purchased fitbit and now I wish I would have gotten the samsung fitgear because I have an android.  Apple users have more features than android users.   Has anyone heard if fitbit will update to allow android users to answer/reject phone calls?

@ylsorr2 yes the update is for the Blaze, and will support smartphone notifications on both iOS and Android. There are a couple of other new features announced. No announcement about Blaze support for answering calls for Android.

I am new to the forum, has anyone else complained about not having answer/reject call feature for android phone?  I also wonder if new features such as gmail, facebook, etc will include android users.

@ylsorr2 yes others have complained about answer/reject being iOS only. Its really the only feature exclusive to iOS. Be glad you don't have a Windows phone, notifications are not supported at all for that phone.

The new features coming out will work on both Android and iOS.

Is this an update for the Blaze I already have, or do I have to buy the new Blaze that has come out?

I would expect that to be an update for the Android app. A Blaze update (as discussed here) probably won't have any impact on that functionality.

@Mad___Hatter, @andylsorr2 and @dernapern this area is where problems are solved by the wonderful fitbit comunity, if you have a suggesting for the developers then I'd go to the feature request board and add your vote.. I notice there is only 62 votes out of the half million Blaze users out there, we need to advertise and get the votes.

For now it boggles my mind when a dimple to add feature is found on one at form and not another. Any app on android can have access to the call dialer function.
