Time and time again we have asked you people to make the device Water Proof.
Why can't you get it through your thick skulls that there are water sports/activities.
Can I wear my Blaze while swimming?
Fitbit Blaze is rain, sweat, and splash proof. We recommend that you do not swim or shower while wearing Blaze.

It isn't stated in the specs, info can be found on the Fitbit.com/shop

people who say it isn’t possible don’t know what other company's did, I have an old suunto ambit that is around 4 years old that can do all this except its way too big for everyday use.
Now Garmin made a Fenix 3 that can be worn while swimming!! And also has everything the blaze has..
So I think I am going to switch camps. After being happy with my surge since the release of it in Europe.
I just hope Fitbit comes with a product in time before I buy the Garmin...

I would gladly take the waterproofing over stair counting if it were really a toss up. I get that people like it but I'm just stating my opinion and there are other trackers that can do both. I really like the FitBit ecosystem though and would hate to leave for that. Again, I know that they don't need me or anything like that but this is a forum for voicing opinions.

I'd have presummed that enginerers could design to be outside of the 'waterproofed' area to allow for this function to work and to allow the device to be waterproofed. Just thinking.

Hey everyone, just want to reference this post from @MatthewFitbit. Waterproofing a device would come at the cost of the altimeter, and our trackers are not designed to accurately track swimming.
I want to continue to emphasize that Blaze is water resistant, meaning rain/sweat/splash proof. It's best not to shower or swim with Blaze.
There's definitely potential for a waterproof Fitbit tracker to exist, but only time will tell.

I get that this is the FitBit response but I'm not sure that it's all that valid if other devices have the ability to count flights of stairs and they are waterproof. To say that it isn't supposed to track water related activities anyway so in other words, "What's the point?", is also not valid because none of my other watches are made FOR swimming activities in particular but they are able to be taken into the water. It's not a matter of tracking water activities like swimming. It's the matter of not being paranoid about its care if, with the summer coming up, I find myself in a pool having forgotten to remove it or I take part in an activity that includes running through wet conditions. I don't see this request as being out there or absurd. Other consumers also need to stop making excuses for this as well because you only strengthen the company's position to not change rather than helping them to evolve through improvements. That's business. That's reality. If enough people just accept things for what they are then there's never a reason to evolve.

@Nolander @Dmarr87 It would also be nice to have my phone go swimming with me, but it's not water-proof either. It's totally a valid suggestion but is not currently supported with our product lineup.
Like @AndrewFitbit said above, there's the potential for it someday existing at a higher price point and possibly with the removal of some features, but the possibility is there. Make sure to vote for it.

I just bought the Garmin Vivoactive (decided not to wait for the HR because the watch is way too big on my wrist, the Vivoactive just covers my wrist perfect and the the HR will be way too long and thin). I have been reading the FitBit Blaze forum to try to convince myself to get the Blaze instead of the Vivoactive but the lack of waterproof and the 3rd part notification (I have an iPhone) really sucks.
But the FitBit Blaze has HR and multisports (which I do more than just run/bike/swim) and a great dashboard/community. Can anyone recommend why the Blaze would be better than Vivoactive? I am so torn still.. I can still refund for a change.

Since there's no real precedencts for taking the phone into water that's a nice desire but not really relevant to the conversation. I see where you were going but..yeah. Most watches are in fact taken into water though or can be. In any case, this is a conversation that most of the community here and fitbit associates won't really see eye to eye on. That's evident. Where can we vote on this?
