Blaze Water Resistance

Time and time again we have asked you people to make the device Water Proof.

Why can't you get it through your thick skulls that there are water sports/activities.

Can I wear my Blaze while swimming?

Fitbit Blaze is rain, sweat, and splash proof. We recommend that you do not swim or shower while wearing Blaze.

I showered with my Fitbit Blaze and ran it under water in the sink to
'clean' it and seems ok.

The altimeter reasoning is not accurate... I have a Casio triple sensor Gshock pathfinder with an altimeter and it is water resistant to 100m or over 200 feet... I have snorkels with it scuba dive with it... Altimeter still works!! If Casio can do it so can Fitbit... I wouldn't say it's resolved until the product meets customer expectations... I tried the last Fitbit smart watch and it dies after I wore it in the shower by accident one day... I'm not buying another ~$250 watch until that is no longer an issue.

@Rvillucci - I agree with you! Garmin vivoactive hr coming out in May that does all the Surge and Blaze do AND you can swim with it. Fitbit is just not listening to their customers.

Saying you can swim with it,  and having out record usable data ate to different things?

BTW the Apple watch is only splay resistant.

I don't know how many posts I've seen on here stating that some other company has waterproofed trackers. I have to wonder why anyone purchased a Fitbit if being able to submerge the tracker is the most important feature. Seems silly to me - I would just go with the other company.

Waterproofing can be done without removing the altimeter per the Garmin Tactix, Fenix etc.  There is a huge market for these capabilities.  The military community alone would justify the investment, and I know for a fact that Garmin is working on a fitness tracker/heart rate/GPS with altimeter.  Even a life proof removable band would work, so that you can wear your Blaze for any occasion would be acceptable and probably preferred.  You guys really need a more imagantive business development team with all do respect.

Wow, lots of comments since my last posts. I'm the big Fitbit fan that went over to the Garmin at the end of January because the Fitbits aren't water resistant enough for showers, swimming, etc. I ended up getting the Vivofit 2 and absolutely love it. I take it off only to change the color of the bands. Having a battery that lasts a year and never having to charge it has been more of an advantage than I thought it would be. And they have some challenges that can be joined within their app that I'm positively addicted to. I'm walking more than I ever did before. It's become an obsession!

Yes that is exactly what is happening; people are going to other companies who’s trackers have these features already. We live in hope that Fitbit will not be left like Blackberry as a good product that did not keep up with consumer needs.

That's incredible to me. So that strengthens my position. Even phones are now waterproof like that? I recently saw some of the Samsung commercials too.

The other thing I like about the Vivofit 2 is that the number of steps (or date or time or calories burned, whatever you select) is always visible with big numbers that can be seen even from a distance. You can push a button for the backlight at night but the screen is readable in all but the darkest situation without the backlight. It also shows a little red line after an hour of inactivity, that goes away after several steps. This has been particularly motivating for me during the day when I'm sitting in the office and need to take a short "walk break".

I was a huge Fitbit fan for 2 years and would have gone on the o their new models without even looking at another brand, but the water resistance thing was a deal breaker for me. I can't tell you the number of times per day, especially now in the summer, that my hands and wrist are submerged in water. If I had to take the tracker off each time I'd probably eventually forget to put it back on and lose it.

TTurk1, your comparison to the Blackberry is the perfect example. Blackberries were hugely popular for years, but they turned a deaf ear to customer requests for new features to keep up with the competition. Switching from the Blackberry, a trusted platform that I was used to, to an iPhone several years back, was a big move for me but I never looked back. Blackberry held fast to their business model while I moved on to an iPhone.

yeah--i believe there are some much-more-expensive waterproof Garmins and the like which will track you distance...have you looked for those--i'm sure they exist. #adventureracerslovemoosejaw (in the midwest anyway)

5 atm does not mean that you can swim to 50 meters, it means that it is good down to 50 meters, as tested in a pressure chamber. Brought down to the depth slowly and absolutely no current.  5atm is only good for shallow  swimming, 2 atm deep would be more than questionable.
