Time and time again we have asked you people to make the device Water Proof.

Why can't you get it through your thick skulls that there are water sports/activities.

Can I wear my Blaze while swimming?

Fitbit Blaze is rain, sweat, and splash proof. We recommend that you do not swim or shower while wearing Blaze.

I own a garmin and it is waterproof and even has water sports apps on it

Waterproof is a misnomer and doesn't mean much for at some depth it
Will Fail.. The correct term is water resistant to X (feet meters, ATM, etc) the point is there is a failing point.

Check Apple Watch 2, it's waterproof. Fitbit should be ahead of Apple, in my opinion.

None of these are waterproof, even as a joke don't go buying and expecting it to be based on this comment.

Yes there's no comparison to the behemoth of fiat money storage Apple commands and their customer centric design principles and user interfaces.  However, until the Apple watch has 3-4 days battery life then in my oppinion they will be like the greatest English football manager who never managed England (aka Brian Clough).  I think it could be another 3-4 years minimum before they have the post production publicly available technology to release this kind of super smart watch (minimum 2 more product cycles most likely another 2 series on top IE series 6 or maybe series 5 possibly). So Fitbit have the luxury of a minimum 4 year window (more likely 6 - 8 year customer journey cycle) to become the Coca Cola of the smart fitness market and leave Apple to become the Pepsi runner up for the simple reason fitbit are massively more focused on fitness which is what people like me who will spend monmey to track life style and fitness want. What do you all think? Is apple worth it for now or later?

Fitbit is the king of step tracking world, starting at $50 and going up to $250. Fitbit will continue to sell a lot because of price point. I've used both Fitbit and Apple Watch, like them both for different reasons, and my wrist hasn't seen a Fitbit since last summer.

I wholeheartetly agree with you, if it meant sacrificing stupid stair count I would 10 out of 10 times take waterpoofing and being able to track my swims along with my runs. Why they dont have a sans stairs version with waterproofing is beyond my comprehension as well.

Ok so with my Fitbit Charge HR I swim regualry with it in a Chlorine pool, I also go in to Sauna/Steam Rooms with it and it is still working great 2 years in. I just make sure I always wash it afterwards and then complete dry.

With the blaze I am yet to swim/steam/sauna with it, if I do I will block the altimeter hole which should make it far more water resistent/proof.

what is the difference between heavy rain and a shower where the fitbit is splashed on by the shower head?

Heavy rain is usually bigger drops that come down by gravity.

The shower is composed of many thin close jets of pressurized water, not a simple splash.

What about if you Work as a Dishwasher in a Resteraunt? I have the Fitbit Blaze and Love using it. But I'm nervous about the constant splash and steam while I am cleaning damaging it. I get most of my steps while working so I really want to wear it when I'm at work. Will the Blaze be okay in these Dishwashing conditions? (I do not wear it when I shower or swim. only when washing dishes)

Well if we comparenit with the apple watch , himm lets see I just traded my fitbit blaze for an apple watch series 2 , and yes people it is waterproof great for swimming and water sports!!!

The Apple 2 watch has the same rating as the Surge, which means.good for shallow swimming no diving.

The Apple Watch 2 is water resistant — but you still probably shouldn't swim with it. On Wednesday, Apple rolled out the newest version of theApple Watch. Among other things, the Apple Watch Series 2 has a claimed water resistance of 50 meters, or about 160 feet.

Hi, I am a keen Fit Bit user and I don't think the altimeter is a good reson not to waterproof it. I live up 4 flights of stairs and I keep a routine that does not change. I walk up the stairs 8 times a day and down. I NEVER get 8 flights of steps a day. I have actually got 64 in the past and most days it is all over. Waterproofing is the way forward. Apple watch 2 is now waterproof which looks like a much better option at this point which is a shame.

Sort out the waterproofing issue it is after all a SPORTS tracker and swimming isnt the only sport you get wet in.....not even a shower for goodness sake....

I have resisted buying an Apple Watch. I've been happy with my blaze but having always worn a waterproof watch and then a Fitbit Flex (fine to swim with), it was only a matter of time. Day 2 of a 2 week vacation and I wore my Blaze into the ocean, barely submersed before realizing it but now it's dead. I  had previously jumped into a pool wearing  it but realize right away and it recovered .  Very frustrating as I really like the app and we put that community but now torn about what to buy for a replacement .

Sorry to hear about your blaze. I do think this is Fitbits biggest drawback. I like the company and I like the product but the insistence on trying to convince people the not being waterproof is really 'ok' is infuriating and a little insulting. Customers use these products day in and day out we know that waterproofing is needed there are literally thousands of comments about this. I hope they realise that the customer is right not them.... Happy Monday 🙂
