Blaze Water Resistance

Time and time again we have asked you people to make the device Water Proof.

Why can't you get it through your thick skulls that there are water sports/activities.

Can I wear my Blaze while swimming?

Fitbit Blaze is rain, sweat, and splash proof. We recommend that you do not swim or shower while wearing Blaze.

Yes, @AdamMSC - that, exactly!

Must admit, I've had another look at the Vivoactive HR and beginning to like it more, especially the fact that it has a much wider range of recognisable activities (as well as being waterproof). Trouble with Fitbit is they're a bit like Apple, suck you into their ecosystem. I've an Aria and I like the way everything links up together to the dashboard.

I totally agree! I also don't want to have to worry about it when I take it off at the beach and leave it in my bag to go swimming as well as worried that I will forget to put it back on and lose all those steps when I go for a walk on the beach. I could wear my fit bit flex 24/7, showering and swimming and it seems like a step down that I won't be able to do that with my blaze.

I wore my Surge everyday - in the shower, pool, hot tub and ocean - with no problems.  Fitbit said not too so your wrist could be clean and breath after the early issues with another fitbit and it's bad causing rashes...but it was waterproof enough for pool and shower.  If anyone showers with the Blaze - please let us know.

i swam a few times with my charge hr and showered with it regularly. after about a year the band tore from the oled/hr module exposing the interior where you could clearly see rust on the vibration motor. so the charge hr is definitely not water proof.

"The Fitbit Surge™ is water resistant to 5 ATM, or 50 meters, and the Fitbit Charge™ and Fitbit Charge HR™ are water resistant to 1 ATM, or 10 meters, which means they can withstand accidental submersion but should be removed from water promptly. The devices cannot withstand the force associated with swimming strokes, so as mentioned previously do not swim with any Fitbit trackers."

not seeing any atm rating on the blaze. i'm guessing 1atm. it seems like the Surge is the way to go if you want a water proof fitbit (or at least the most water proof fitbit).

Fitbit is only splash-proof. No swim-proof Fitbits.

Aria, Fitbit MobileTrack on iOS. Previous: Flex, Force, Surge, Blaze

I have several fit bit products but I went to garmin with their vivosmart hr since it does everything charge hr does but it is waterproof/ resistant. It is based at $150 as well but tracks steps, stairs, and heart rate while not worrying about water. And more notifications. Same battery life as well. The only thing I liked about fitbit was the challenges since I only have a few friends with garmin it lacks in that aspect but the price and technology is out there. Why can Fitbit not at least make it to where we can go to the lake and not worry about taking off our device. I ruined a flex and charge by getting wet. The blaze has the design down but the water resisting is a deal breaker. If they can't figure this out soon I don't see them surviving the market.

Can you tell me how you charge yours? The Blaze has to come off the strap and be placed in the charging box.

My old suunto core watch has an very accurate altimeter for detecting changes in the weather and I can swim with it. That's doesn't sound like a very good excuse....

Well, on this whole water proof thing, I'm gonna say shower proof is mandatory, because you do that every day, and forgetting to take it off will cost hundreds if you damage it by water. For the swimming thing, I know the issue is the altimeter thing, but just make a model without that! Does anyone REALLY care what your altitude is?! The fitbit would be more popular with the many swimmers on this forum if you did this, especially since all the swimmers wanted other features on the fitbit that would be able to be used in a water proof model. I have heard on the forum that other fitness trackers have waterproof altitude, so yeah. Once, I forgot to take off my 8$ (Cheap) splash proof watch before I got in the pool, and it broke, I was able to fix it, but there is a bit of rust on it. Imagine if it was a 150$ fitbit! Water proof would be a good feature.

Fitbit told me to post my concerns about it not being waterproof, showerproof or whatever you want to call. They said they would listen and if enough votes would do something about. Now all they do is make excuses why they can't make it truely water resistant. Harming had no problem making a swim fit tracker. So what is the problem Fitbit? NOW WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE ?

For anyone who keeps saying "It would cost too much" is crazy. Getting the device waterproof is not going to be that much more. The Samsung gear fit, Gear 2 are 100% waterproof and work great and are not that expensive. Also if you can't aford the price of the watch, then don't buy it.

If you are advertising your device as the FITNESS watch, it should be waterproof.

It's just a pity that the display and backlight on the Vivosmart is complete pants.
I'd rather have device which I can see at a glance as I train. This was impossible with the Garmin.

Yes it is a little rude to say thick skulls but you have to wonder why a company that makes a fitness device cannot make it at least swim proof. There are others that have this capability and so far you have lost the market of swimmers who are mostly comprised of generally active people. You will not get me to upgrade from my basic fitbit until you can get this right.

I know it says not recomended to be worn in the shower, but if I was to wear it in the shower would it be fine.   I have a Blazeand my skin does not get irritated easily.   I find that having to take it off everytime I shower can be quite annoying.   I used to have a flex as well and I wore it in the ocean and it pools and in the shower and it was always fine.   It worked great in water.   I know the Blaze isn't as water resistant as the Flex, but all I want to know is if it with not brek in the shower.   I mean a shower is just splashing anyway right?  It's not being submerged at all.

Best Answer

No one really knows right now. It may or may not break but you gotta remember if it breaks it's your fault and Fitbit may not do anything about it as it's user error.

With Fitbit saying don't use in the shower, it's not something I'd want to risk, as they're not going to replace it when it breaks. I mean, how difficult is it to take off a watch?
