Any idea if the Blaze will have better battery life than the Charge HR?  I'm on my 2nd one of those in less than a month and the battery life is pretty horrific.

It means that there is yet another expensive item of fitbit kit that cannot
be fixed for the sake of getting hold of replacement batteries !

So, what's the alternative, the ol ironman watch, and a pedometer?

I’ve used mine daily for almost 3 years and I charge it overnight every 5 nights. It’s never died before I put it back on the charger.

My Blaze is dying a slow death. I've had it for 2 years and the battery is no longer charging.  I can't replace just the battery.  Instead, my only recourse is to purchase a new Fitbit (with their generous 25% discount offer). Btw, the Blaze is no longer on the market.  I wonder why.

Why would I do that w/o any assurance that the same issue will not happen again? I'm done with Fitbit.  They obviously do not stand behind their product.

I’ve literally never had a problem with mine in almost 3 years and the battery has never died on me. I charge it over night every 5 days and it’s never failed me. The customer service has always been helpful when I’ve had to contact them.

I should clarify and specify that my Blaze will not hold a charge longer than 12 hours.  You should not have to charge the watch every night or for 5 nights.  That's not what the sales proposition was at time of purchase. I used to charge my Blaze twice a week and it was fine.

My Blaze died quickly after 2 years and 4 months.

First, charging contacts on the back became so worn that it was really hard to get it charged. Then battery stopped holding charge and the lastly screen became dim to the point of invisibility. It took about 3 weeks from the first symptoms to the end.

Now to the issues:

Yes, you can replace battery. It is not replacing battery in a flashlight, but it is doable (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3re04rC-x0&t=232s)

I believe Surge and later Blaze were Fitbit's attempts to get into smartwatch market (though neither was ever advertised as a smartwatch). Year ago they basically put Surge and Blaze together and came up with Ionic and, year later, with cheaper Versa.

And, yes, it will happen again, as an average lifespan of smartwatches is about 3 years. It's simply not worth for a manufacturer to invest into engineering a device to last for years but become technically outdated in a couple of years.

I bought a new Blaze Charger at Walmart because my old charger did wear out. I used to blame my Blaze for charging issues, until I realized the Chargers need to be replaced. You were lucky yours lasted 2 years.

Thanks. When I charge my watch it appears it is charging. Could it be that this is not the case?

Be sure your watch is in close contact with the Charger points. If it’s worn out there you won’t get a strong charge.

And clean the contacts with tissue paper and alcohol prior to charging.
