Hi,
I just got the blaze, tried to update the firmware, but it said it will not udpate since the battery is low....which is strange because I had the Blaze plugged in the whole time, but I guess it is not charging. On the screen it simply says fibit.com/setup.
I have the Blaze in the charging compartment, cover closed, and the contacts touching...but I never see the charging battery icon.
I figured it may be charging anyways, so I left it for a few hours, and tried to update again, but no luck. The battery is still too low. I also tried the same outllet on my comptuer with the Charge HR cord, and it charged fine, so it is not that.
@EmersonFitbit, I see you replied to some other battery issues. Any ideas?

What do you have the charging cable plugged into? Is it a computer or charging brick from another device.
Could be we need to change it to a different power source

A charging animation is displayed when the tracker is charging.
Sounds like something's faulty with the charging cable or the charging port on the tracker.. since the Charge HR charges fine..

Lucky me. The other part I forgot to mention is that when I plug it in, the Blaze lights up...so it is detecting "something", it just doesn't charge.

I found the charging animation was only displayed after I'd done the initial setup and upgrade. Until then, I saw the 'Setup' screen but the device was charging since it gained enough of a charge to allow me to set it up.

Thanks @MikeF, good to know. Unfortunately, I left if plugged in for quite a while, but still low battery.

I never could get mine to charge, had to return it. Could be that the battery got too low before the setup was complete...I will make sure to setup right away next time.
Once the battery is too low, the firmware wont update, and setup won't complete....so I was stuck.

Got my new Blaze Saturday, and have had the same experience as @dmason508.
Round One:
Not realizing that the USB cable is charge only, I did initial setup via USB on my bluetoothless Windows 10 PC. It actually found the device, but failed to update firmware, and continued to display only the fit.com/setup message.
Round Two:
I installed the fitbit app on my android phone, and started the update, which failed because of the battery level ("medium").
Charge!
I tried charging for hours at a time on a powered USB hub (a desk brick that can deliver max power to all eight ports), two different wall chargers, and direct to both USB 2.x and 3.0 ports on my PC. It reponds to being plugged in with the setup screen, but has only reported battery levels to apps as medium, followed by half.
Round Three:
Finally, I pulled it out of the charger, "replaced" the device on my phone to push it through setup again. Punch in the code, started the update, and this time the blaze showed a progress bar, which reached a third of the way across before it failed.
I restarted the update, but there was no sign of progress on phone or the fitbit after 15 minutes.
Round Four:
After restarting the fitbit - and the phone, because the fitbit app was stuck updating - the app kept reporting that it was trying to sync, while the fitbit would only display the setup screen. The good sign is that the fitbit has reported a battery level of "full", the first evidence that my attempts to charge had been successful.
Round Five:
For my next attempt, I deleted the Blaze from my phone, then reset both the phone and the fitbit.
This awarded me with a a progress bar on both screen, and reported failure in only a few minutes. Attempting to restart was unsuccessfuly, with the App showing no progress and the Fitbit still showing the setup screen. After 10 minutes of this...
Round Six:
Reset phone... Battery shows medium. Unpair device, reset phone. Reset fitbit, install Fitbit App on my bluetooth equipped Windows 10 laptop, now it all finally works.
After getting the firmware update completed, the device is now clear about when it is charging.
This is probably not the new user experience you really want. My wife was interested, but after watching me fiddle with it for hours, you may have lost a customer. If there were one change I would really recommend - it seems like there is a special new device / setup firmware. This firmware should clearly indicate when it is charging and the battery level when it is charging.

Interesting, unfortunately, I could never get my Blaze to charge at all. I tried wall outlets, etc...but my battery was at a critically low level. I left it plugged in (without setting up) overnight thinking it was charging, and the battery was about dead at morning....I think that caused all the issues.
The battery was so low at that point, that when starting the firmware update, it would instantly fail...saying the battery was too low, and I had no way to charge it. So had to return.
So now waiting...hope to get a new one in a few weeks. 😞

I just got my blaze today and had the same problems as previously mentioned. Once I figured out how to get it set up I went to the app on my phone and started, as soon as it recognized the blaze it wanted to download the update, however, it stopped quickly due to low battery. I put it in the charger but it didn't look like it was charging because it kept flashing the set up message. I left it in the charger about 30 minutes and the app said it was still low but it wasn't empty like when I started. I left it on the charge and hit the update button on the app, I let it update while still in the charger. It finished updating and once it did I could see the battery icon and could tell it was charging. It also seemed to start charging faster.
