Blaze battery will not charge

Hi,

I just got the blaze, tried to update the firmware, but it said it will not udpate since the battery is low....which is strange because I had the Blaze plugged in the whole time, but I guess it is not charging. On the screen it simply says fibit.com/setup.

I have the Blaze in the charging compartment, cover closed, and the contacts touching...but I never see the charging battery icon.

I figured it may be charging anyways, so I left it for a few hours, and tried to update again, but no luck. The battery is still too low. I also tried the same outllet on my comptuer with the Charge HR cord, and it charged fine, so it is not that.

@EmersonFitbit, I see you replied to some other battery issues. Any ideas?

E 1.0 amp block works initially then a 2.0 amp block will work

Use a 1.0 amp block. Most iPad have em or old chargers initially to charge
for like 2 hrs. Then after u set up u can use any block even a rapid charger
Best Answer
That is correct.. fitbit requires an initial charge using 1.0 Amp,
otherwise it won't work. I also noticed that even after the initial charge,
fitbit will not charge properly using a 2.0 Amp outlet. The icon indicator
shows the battery as full but it doesn't last as long.

@Amilli87

I used an Xbox One to initially charge mine. Still works like a charm, even though I don't use the Xbox One to charge it, and I don't have any of the issues anyone describes here.

same prob. tried for 2 days and several hours trying all sorts of things. called and they told me to try using usb chip thingy that came with my old surge to update, didn't work. finally....I decided to plug it in the wall outlet versus my computer (b/c I was told not to do that with my surge so I was hesitant) and within mins it was charging enough for an update. I now I have it up and running.

We have one person who has done tests of the current draw. He says the tracker has never exceeded 500MA, or 0.5A, therefore as Fotbit state the 0.5 amp, of a standard USB port on a compiter will work.

Personally i use a 0.5 amp charger i boight for $5.

I also had this problem and tried many of the things people posted about. Initially I was using a samsung fast charging adapter. I changed my adapter to just a standard charger and the update started immediately on my phone for the fitbit blaze

Thank you so much! Went through TONS of threads seeing people had the same problem and none of the tips helped except yours! 5 min on a .75A port and I was good to go! Thank you

No worries (: I went through so many threads as well and could not figure
it out. I just happened to have a different charger there at the time as
said why not, let's try it and it worked (: Fast chargers work to charge
it after that initial charge I believe

Glad I could help (: it was just luck really. Fast chargers work to charge it after the initial charge I think

After having the same issues as everyone one here, doing a reset on the device whilst holding it in the charger worked! Thank you

I just got Fitbit Blaze ad was worried as I could not do setup and continued getting error that battery is too low.

I searched fanatically across all sites and thought I need to get it replaced.

The solution was having patience.. I plugged my blaze in it's cradle to keep charging through my laptop.. It does not show it is charging as until the setup is done, charging symbol does not come.. Waited for an hour and volla..it all worked.. setup done and also could see charging indicator etc...

Hope it helps

I never had to do any of that. It worked out of the box.

I let it charge on my laptop for about an hour and then I did the reset while holding it on the charger.  It instantly went to Medium charge and finished the update.  Now I have the battery charging screen and am letting it fully charge.
