Blaze bicycling distance off

Question about my new Blaze.  My first Fitbit, so I'm not sure where the error's coming from.

 

Biking in to work today, my Blaze recorded mileage as 4.86 miles.

 

Google maps the distance as 4.69.  Fairly close, given a margin for inefficiency.

 

Biking home today, my Blaze reports the mileage as 3.37 - wildly inaccurate.

 

Travel time recorded was similar, so it wasn't due to an incorrect starting or stopping record.

 

Any ideas?

Did you begin by indicating your exercise as biking (where you have to connect to the app with location services on)? Or did you just let it automatically detect your activity?

Same procedure both times.  Exercise function on watch, Bicycling, waited while connecting to phone until it said "Let's go!", hit start and kicked off.

 

Riding both to and from work today returned the correct mileage though.

This has been a problem wether you bike or run. Fitbit needs a patch asap.

Mine has been off by about .25 miles every ride.  Wasnt sure why as the gps map looks the same as the map for my Garmin but the distance is short.
